Simon Hampton

I do not. I play fantasy football only. The daily grind of fantasy baseball would be too much for me

Any chance Endy makes the pirates out of spring training? If not, how long will we need to wait for him?
Simon Hampton
6:06
Endy was terrific last year, but he's only had six games in Triple-A. Think he spends at least a month or two at Triple-A but he's certainly a good shout to be called up sometime in mid-June (hello Super Two cutoff)
Uncle Bens TEK
6:07
More frustrating team to root for Oakland or Colorado?
Simon Hampton
6:08
Eesh, neither are great. Oakland's had a bit more success of late and while it must be frustrating supporting them, at least you can sort of see and understand how they operate, even if you disagree with it. With the Rockies, I just don't really know what their strategy is
Al Swearengen
6:09
What do you think of the pitch clock? I think it's terrible. I don't go to a ballgame and hope the game ends as quickly as possible. I want it to last four hours. I can't be the only one.
Simon Hampton
6:10
You're just losing dead time though. It's not like the game itself is losing anything. The pitch clock is fantastic
Nats fan
6:12
When do the Nationals become playoff contenders again?
Simon Hampton
6:14
They've got the money to move quickly once there's a decent core of young talent there. So I could see them being strong in 2025? They'll also have Corbin off the books after '24

6:14
Who wins the 2nd base job for the Pirates this year: Castro, Bae or someone else
Simon Hampton
6:15
I think Castro's getting the nod there to begin with
Jmgomets
6:16
Outside of Ohtani, who will be a big name that will move at the trading deadline?
Simon Hampton
6:16
If Sale has a strong few months but the Red Sox are well out of it I could definitely see him being moved
6:17
Back in a tick, my dinner just got delivered
Karl Farbmann
6:21
Any talk of Dodgers talking to WSox about a Tim Anderson trade?
Simon Hampton
6:21
Do not see this happening. Think LA just sticks with Rojas to begin the year, and then maybe looks to upgrade with an infielder at the deadline
Sal
6:22
Can Burnes to the Orioles happen pending Brews playing poorly?
Simon Hampton
6:23
Sure, I think if the Brewers are in a bad state come July they'll definitely try and cash in on Burnes
It'd depend on how Baltimore's doing by then of course, so there's a few variables there
Grandpa Jones
6:24
Hey Simon, what’s for supper?
Simon Hampton
6:24
Curry and a beer. The best.
Shift this
6:25
Do you like moving another outfielder to short right like the Sox did yesterday.  Sort of an in your face to Manfred.
Simon Hampton
6:25
No. I get why they do it of course. But I don't want baseball to watch hitters hit the ball straight at the fielders.

6:28
Chances Soto extension gets done before OD?
Simon Hampton
6:29
Pretty low just by virtue of the fact it'd have to be such a big contract, but if anyone's shown they're able to pull it off it's the Padres
Marxis
6:30
What do you think of the Padres free spending strategy?
Simon Hampton
6:30
I love it!

6:33
Is the dodgers window of domination coming to a close? Was it a disappointment they didn’t win more championships?
Simon Hampton
6:34
I can get on board with the idea that the Dodgers might not quite be as dominant this year as they've been in past seasons, but I think they'll still be really strong and their player development is so good (and their budget so big) that I don't think their window will ever really close

6:34
Do you think the best cricket hitter Right now could Make the majors or would he have to play say double A Or lower.?
Simon Hampton
6:36
It's a completely different type of swing. The best batsman in the world (Kane Williamson) would struggle mightily in baseball I suspect. I think the transition the other way would be a bit easier, but Aaron Judge would still struggle a lot in cricket
Jimbo
6:37
more wins this year, scherzer or verlander? Curry, really?
Simon Hampton
6:37
Scherzer. But more importantly, what have you got against a curry?
baked beans
6:38
Vierling in Detroit is a good spot for him?
Simon Hampton
6:38
Detroit's as good a spot as any at the moment for a young player with some potential to get a lot of reps
Trea Turner
6:41
People think I might steal 60-70 bases this year, is that a reasonable expectation just because of bigger bases?
Simon Hampton
6:42
Curious to see how the bigger bases, but also the pick off rules, affect stolen base totals. No one's taken 70 since Jacoby Ellsbury in 2009, so it's probably a not a reasonable expectation for Turner to go from 27 in '22 to 70 in '23, but I'd expect an uptick for sure
