I thought the Yankees made a perfectly fair offer, but it's not outlandish for Judge to decline. He's already banked a bunch of money obviously, and if he has another great season, he could push towards Rendon level (7/$245MM)
5:51
He's not getting 10/360 or anything like that and if you set the O/U on his next deal at $213M, I'd take the under. But it's certainly not out of the question he beats it and maybe he just wanted to hear from all 30 teams

Logan Webb Cy Young, what say you?
Anthony Franco
5:52
He's very good but I don't think he's that good. Doesn't miss quite as many bats as I'd expect for a Cy Young winner
5:53
I'm not down on him or anything though. I think he's a top ten pitcher in the NL
Blue Jays Rule
5:53
Are the Blue Jays the best team in AL or an overrated mirage?
Anthony Franco
5:53
Haha I love that this question assumes there's no middle ground between these two
Kershaw
5:54
How do you pull me in the middle of a perfect game?!?! Pitch count or not, you've gotta be kidding me!!
Anthony Franco
5:54
I was disappointed they pulled him but I'm sure Roberts was in communication with Kershaw about the plan and how he was feeling
5:55
Could he have gone more than 80? I'd guess so, but I'm not part of the Dodgers training staff. Would've been nice to see Vesia complete the perfect game but oh well

5:56
How do you feel about Brandon Marsh? Do you think he has taken a leap?
Anthony Franco
5:57
I'm more optimistic with Marsh than I am with Adell, since the glove gives a higher floor. The swing-and-miss is concerning though and I think he'll be pretty streaky all season
5:58
They made the right call in giving him the everyday job, but between both corner outfield spots and the middle infield, it's a lot of uncertainty for a hopeful contender

Give a Rangers fan a reason to be optimistic…

This offseason was always about laying a foundation for 2023 and beyond. Offense should be pretty good and I'm optimistic about a few of the arms they've got on the horizon, but this year's not going to be great on the mound
Mariners selected Matt Koch. Give me one second to get a headline up on that
6:03
Alright, I'm back

When Acuna gets back, is there a better 1-5 lineup in baseball than Acuna, Olson, Riley, Ozuna & Albies?
Anthony Franco
6:04
I'd probably go with Betts, Muncy, Trea Turner, Freeman and Will Smith over the Braves group, but they're up there
6:05
Blue Jays and Astros have a case too

What do you predict is going to happen with Conforto?  Do you see any team signing him soon, or will they be willing to wait until after the draft?
Anthony Franco
6:05
Still hard for me to see him waiting until mid-July to sign

Could there be some early season trades once roster go down to 26 on May 1?
Anthony Franco
6:07
We'll see some waiver claims and maybe minor trades, but doubt we get anything crazy
6:08
DFA'd player for cash, etc.
JS
6:08
How quickly do internal/external evaluations of prospects change among teams, and among media, over the course of the first couple months? Does a strong April bump up a young guy's trade value significantly into May?
Anthony Franco
6:09
I'm sure it varies team-to-team. Most or all have projection models and things of that nature that'll fluctuate. How much probably depends more on if there's a process change that looks like it might explain it
If a pitcher adds a new pitch or throws 3 MPH harder and shoves for a month, it's pretty easy to buy that he's just better now
6:10
I'd be less inclined to buy small sample breakouts for pitchers whose stuff looks mostly the same or, generally speaking, for hitters
Zach
6:11
Did you see any of Matt Brash? He looks like he's throwing Bugs Bunny pitches on the mound - impressive...
Anthony Franco
6:12
I didn't see his debut but Twitter was ablaze, which was cool
6:13
Believe I've mentioned this before but I was at Brash's last college start. Thought he was impressive, a solid 3rd round talent who had a shot be a back-of-the-rotation starter. Looks like I'll end up being way light, all the credit in the world to him for how quickly he's improved

Do you ever read the comments, and if so do you have a favorite commenter?
Anthony Franco
6:14
I scan the comments when I get a chance, typically in case there's some sort of error in the post that somehow catches I can correct
I don't pay attention to the commenter names though

I disagree with your statement that there is no front runner for MVP a week in. Ohtani and Vladdy were the frontrunners before the first spring training pitch..
Anthony Franco
6:15
Ha, sure. I guess it'd have been more accurate to say that "the MVP odds should barely have changed from what they were preseason"
