What does Michael A Taylor net in trade return?  Several CF-needy teams out there.
Anthony Franco
5:09
Yeah I think he's a quietly solid trade chip given the lack of center field alternatives and the number of contenders that could use an upgrade there
5:10
Not going to bring back a franchise-altering return, but I think they could get a solid prospect from the middle of an acquiring team's organization -- somebody fans of that team would probably be upset they moved

What do you think about the Rockies' extensions in the last year or so? Freeland, Cron, Marquez, and Senzatela each signed multi-year deals
Anthony Franco
5:11
Márquez extension is old. Cron, McMahon, Senzatela, Freeland and Elias Díaz all signed within the past year though
5:12
Cron looks great; McMahon deal was solid, not a steal but a perfectly reasonable price point. The others I don't really like
5:13
Senzatela deal I understand, but it struck me as an overpay. Didn't get the urgency to keep Freeland and Díaz around
Larry
5:13
Will the Braves ever lose again?
Anthony Franco
5:13
Hot take: yes
Contreras
5:14
Lucroy was traded for Brinson years ago a top prospect
Anthony Franco
5:14
Lucroy had a dirt cheap team option for the following season
Farhandrew Zaidman
5:15
Seems like it's about that time for the first significant trade a la Willy Adames, eh? Do you think the first domino to fall is a bat or an arm?
Anthony Franco
5:15
Probably a bat, since there should be a ton of demand for the best arms right until the end
Josh Bell maybe?
Da Braves
5:16
Will we make a trade to help deal with the Albies injury?
Anthony Franco
5:17
Depends on how Arcia plays over the next month probably. In an ideal world, he keeps hitting and takes it. But if he regresses toward his career numbers, I think they'll add an alternative
Not Anthony Franco
5:17
The Blue Jays have a fascinating catcher situation, with Kirk seemingly finally hitting as he was expected, Moreno up, and Jansen also providing a fair amount of value. How do you think this should best be navigated? Could you see them keeping all three, and having one move off catcher? Which one's most likely to be traded, if at all?
Anthony Franco
5:18
Yeah it's a really interesting situation. I think they'll keep all three for this season but shop Jansen or Kirk next winter
Jaxon
5:18
Is Brendon Donovan one of the biggest MLB surprises this year?
Anthony Franco
5:19
Up there. He's obviously not going to hit .341 all year, but he seems like a legitimate plus bat
CF Market
5:19
Astros are in need of a CF. What does that market look like and could there be a “surprise” player on the market that could be gotten?
Anthony Franco
5:20
Yeah I referenced this earlier but it's pretty bad. Teams will try to pull Mullins or Reynolds again but neither guy's having a great season so far so it doesn't seem like an opportune time for Baltimore or Pittsburgh to get peak value there
5:21
Well, that's probably selling Reynolds a little short. He's been good, just not at his 2021 level
But regardless, I doubt either actually wind up moved. Similarly skeptical on Laureano, but those would be the big targets
Kilian
5:22
In his first two starts he has looked fine but struggled, are these early career struggles? Up before he was really ready?
Anthony Franco
5:22
Unconcerned. Control has been wobbly but it's only two starts
Austin Wynns
5:23
Do you see me as starting catcher soon I am doing really well
Anthony Franco
5:23
He's been awesome in Triple-A this year but his career track record is that of a backup. Need more than five MLB games to move off that
Tim
5:23
It’s tough to watch my Detroit Tigers.   😞
Anthony Franco
5:24
Just watch the Tarik Skubal starts?
Ozzie
5:24
Is Tommy Edman legit? He's leading position players in bWAR (3.9) and is 7th in fWAR (3.2).
Anthony Franco
5:25
I guess that depends on how you define legit. I don't think he's an MVP candidate or anything but he's definitely an above-average regular
5:26
Excellent defensive middle infielder, elite baserunner with plus contact skills but limited power. Feels like the kind of guy who's going to quietly rack up 3-4 WAR seasons every year
Karl Hornbauer
5:26
Who will the best hitter traded at the deadline?
Anthony Franco
5:27
Whoever of Contreras or Trey Mancini you consider a better hitter
Guest
5:27
Will Reds fans be ticked if the Reds trade Castillo and or Mahle and Drurry for another teams garbage? or will Krall be smart enough to get the best deal for the Reds?
Anthony Franco
5:28
They're not just going to give away Castillo or Mahle if that's the question. It'd take a significant prospect return or they'd keep either guy
5:29
Drury, just kind of have to take what's out there. He's having a good season, going to fetch you a lottery ticket, but he's an impending free agent on a last place team who's been a journeyman for most of his career
Pirate Fan
5:29
Should Pirates look to move Quintana now while he is still pitching well?  Any destinations you can think of?
Anthony Franco
5:30
Doesn't have to be within the next few days or anything but he's definitely going before the deadline, likely for a similar kind of return they got for Tyler Anderson last year
