I think it's just a logistical issue with the arbitrators' schedules. They arbitrate a bunch of things besides MLB, and you have to work around that

Not a great start and I agree that last winter was probably the apex of his trade value. But he's still a good player and at some point they need to hold onto those guys if they're going to end the rebuild

I lean towards both going personally. It's just getting harder and harder to sell this as a team that'll compete in 2023, particularly if you're moving another of your top arms

Probably not helping but I think the bigger issue is he's gotten a little too passive. He's always been patient but he's taking a ton of pitches in the strike zone this year

That's leading to deeper counts and more strikeouts. He should be fine long-term, but he seems a little out of whack right now

Why wouldn't the A's move Murphy? Shea Langeliers is ready to go in AAA and has a similar profile to Murphy.

I get this argument but there's also some chance Langeliers just ends up as a worse player than Murphy (albeit similar stylistically)

They're not really rebuilding so much as they moved guys to save money. Murphy's not expensive right now. Langeliers' presence gives them some more flexibility if they're blown away but I don't think they'll feel they need to trade Murphy
