I think he'll want one year with a chance to return to the market next winter. If he were dead set on maximizing his guarantee, I could see somebody going to like 2/16. But he'd probably rather take 1/8-10 and try to earn a bigger deal

Not really. The starting pitching has obviously been bad lately but I still expect Cole to turn things around and Montas helps. They'll get a first-round bye and are still among the top 4-5 World Series contenders in my view

He was a top prospect, always had the elite velocity and potential to be a ground-ball machine. Had to refine his command to get to his ceiling and he's done it. Deserves a ton of credit
