JD Martinez and Nathan Eovaldi will both be offered QOs at the end of the season, chances both accept?  The front office thinks a supplemental pick would be better than what they could have acquired?
Anthony Franco
8:22
I think Boston played things similarly to SF. Didn't want to completely blow up the team with what the roster achieved last year, and the QO guys could still get you something back if their longshot hopes of competing this season didn't pan out
8:23
I think they both get the QO. I'm on the fence about J.D., could certainly see him accepting. Expect Eovaldi to reject
Chris Young
8:23
Do I have legitimate chance at signing DeGrom this offseason?
Anthony Franco
8:23
(Rangers)
8:24
I don't see why not. They're going to go big on pitching in some form. deGrom's plausible, sure
Marlins
8:24
I’m so frustrated by where this team is at, what do we do?
Anthony Franco
8:25
Yeah disappointing season. Thought they'd be a little more competitive. Going to have to keep throwing darts at the offense
8:26
Soler and García felt like buying high at the time, but I also didn't expect either player to be this bad. I liked the Stallings trade and it just hasn't worked
8:27
They'll probably look around for a center fielder again. Could use a better first baseman than Aguilar. Cooper could do that, I guess, but he gets hurt enough I'd want some more insurance
Joe’s bar
8:27
If Hosmer opts out do the Padres still pay Boston?
Anthony Franco
8:27
No but he's not opting out
Guardians Fever
8:27
The narrative will be that the 3rd wildcard carches a break playing the AL Central champ. What if that's against Bieber and Mackenzie on the road?
Anthony Franco
8:29
It's a three-game series. Anyone can beat anyone. I think trying to game the Wild Card matchups is folly generally
The Guardians could absolutely beat anyone in a playoff series
Mark
8:30
Chances rizzo is in the Yankees opening day lineup 2023?
Anthony Franco
8:30
I think they're pretty good. Lean towards him opting out of the final $16MM but then returning on a multi-year deal
Rash
8:31
What you think about phillies can they make the postseason
Anthony Franco
8:31
I like the Brewers and Padres a little bit more but they absolutely could get one of those spots. All seven of the top NL teams are really good
TxDude
8:32
7 weeks for Judge to hit 17 more HR to break the AL record…does he get it?
Anthony Franco
8:32
I actually think he does at this point, yeah. Hope he at least gets within a few, would be super fun to watch down the stretch
Al Kaline Battery
8:33
How many years will Verlander get  on his next contract?
Anthony Franco
8:34
I like him at two
Deadline
8:34
who was ur deadline winner and why
Anthony Franco
8:34
Hard to go against the Padres as far as buyers go. Reds among the sellers probably

Thanks for the chat. It's looking like the career for Longoria is winding down. Think he retires, since no way the Giants exercise their option? So, is Marco Luciano playing 3B for the Giants next season>
Anthony Franco
8:35
Marco still hasn't gotten to Double-A. I can't see them counting on him as the opening day third baseman
8:36
Longoria has talked about retirement being a possibility and I think this is his final season in SF one way or another, but they'll have to add something from outside the organization this offseason
Trade for Jeimer Candelario or Joey Wendle, something like that. Need at least a stopgap before Luciano
Tigers fan
8:37
How do you feel about the Al Avila firing?
Anthony Franco
8:38
I was surprised by the timing since they'd stuck with him through the trade deadline, but I get it. The team expected to be better by now, and while rotation injuries had a lot to do with it, the lineup was awful top to bottom
8:39
I'm not happy about it, since everything I've heard about Avila is that he's a great person to work for. But I understand why they did it, the results just weren't there after a long time

Mo seems to make little moves with a big picture in mind. Post Yadi, Waino, Puhols, Does Mo make a FA move this winter to keep the momentum going? If so, give me a little speculation(only) as to who it could be.
Anthony Franco
8:40
(Cardinals)
8:41
They do take swings that are a little bit bigger in the offseason than they typically do around the deadline. I'm sure they'd love to have Wainwright back but they'll keep pushing even if that entire trio ends up retiring
8:42
Herrera probably steps in at catcher but I think they'll be in the shortstop market. Could see them as a suitor for Dansby. Going to need to address the rotation in some form if Waino does retire, bullpen could use help

I like instant replay except for the calls overturned because the runner came off the bag for 1/2 a second. I don't feel that was the intention of instant replay. Your thoughts?
Anthony Franco
8:43
Agreed
Irate Nate
8:43
Do you think the Reds will be competitive while green, lodo, and ashcraft are still in cincy?
Anthony Franco
8:44
Yeah the young position player core is pretty good. I think there's a path back by 2024 once Moustakas and Votto are off the books
