Just in terms of pure upside it's probably James Wood, but I think Robert Hassell's going to end up being the best player of the group
Mike E

Turner or Correa realistically in play this off-season for Baltimore?
Anthony Franco
1:56
How are we defining realistic? I think there's like a 5% chance they sign one of those guys
1:58
The case for it makes sense, Elias has already said they're going to push payroll forward. It wouldn't be any more surprising than the Twins getting Correa this spring. But there are also probably 8-10 other teams that'll be in the mix with clearer win-now aggressiveness and a history of more spending
Piscotty calling.

He wants to know if he's going to get picked up as a free agent after he clears waivers?
Anthony Franco
1:59
I think he'd get a minor league deal if he wants one
Aidan
1:59
Jose Miranda for AL ROTY?
Anthony Franco
1:59
Nah, can't put him over Julio Rodríguez or Adley Rutschman. Really good player though

Do the Sox try again next season to make Whitlock a starter?  Wouldn't that be maximizing his value, or does his flexibility make him more valuable?
Anthony Franco
2:01
I prefer him in the fireman role. We know he's awesome going 2-3 innings at a time, and the ability to just neutralize an opposing lineup from the 6th to the 8th inning in a close game is super valuable in its own right. Wouldn't mess with it
Hang on one sec, have to get a headline up on the Braves claiming Rylan Bannon
2:03
Alright I'm back

Do the White Sox have to re-sign Abreu? Vaughn needs to move to 1b he cannot play the OF
Anthony Franco
2:04
I think there's a case for letting Vaughn take first base and reallocating the Abreu money to the back of the rotation and/or second base
I don't expect that's what they'll do though. Abreu has meant a ton to the organization and I expect them to get something done to keep him around

Is Brian Cashman on the hot seat if this slide continue ?
Anthony Franco
2:05
No, the Yankees are going to win 95+ games and take the division. They've had a great year
Carlos Rodon
2:06
How much will I make on my next contract?
Anthony Franco
2:07
I'd have him at like 6/130 but I was overly bullish on Rodon last year and could be again
Eavee
2:07
does judge get 300 million this offseason?
Anthony Franco
2:08
I think so. That'd be $37.5MM AAV over eight years, which feels about right

2:08
Do Braves let Charlie Morton walk after this year or bring him back on 20 Mil option for one more year?
Anthony Franco
2:08
Assuming he keeps pitching the way he has for the past three months, I'd exercise the option
2:09
He had a bad April where he couldn't throw strikes, and that's made his overall numbers look rough. But he's basically been vintage Morton since the start of May

Does STL look for a catcher this winter? Knizner was supposed to be the Yadi successor but he hasn’t hit whatsoever
Anthony Franco
2:10
They should add a veteran complement but it'll probably be Ivan Herrera's job. Knizner's no longer the guy, I agree

Is Edwin Diaz gonna become the highest paid reliever in baseball?
Anthony Franco
2:11
I expect him to break the record for largest reliever contract ever, yeah. Think there's a strong chance somebody goes to six years and he becomes the first one to get nine figures
Cameron Poe
2:11
With the exception of the Astros, are the five teams in the AL East better than anyone else in the American League?
Anthony Franco
2:12
Seattle's better than Baltimore and Boston. White Sox and Twins probably are too
Jed Hoyer
2:12
Sign Nico long term?
Anthony Franco
2:13
Yeah I'm sold on Hoerner as a core piece there. He's already controllable through 2025 but I'd look to tack on a guaranteed season with a club option or two if he's open to it
John
2:14
What kind of contract would Trey Mancini expect as a free agent this winter. 3 years 40 million?
Anthony Franco
2:15
He's a tough one to peg, since the raw power numbers aren't great for a first baseman but that's at least partially because the Orioles changed the left field wall
2:16
3/40 seems a little high to me. Maybe somewhere closer to 3/33 or 2/28? Don't feel great about it though

Do you think Otani gets traded if Angels can't reach an extension this winter?
Anthony Franco
2:16
This winter? No. I think they'd trade him next summer if they're not good again
Rumor Mill
2:16
Do you expect any Big Names to be moved or traded through the waivers before the end of the season?
Anthony Franco
2:17
Waiver trades no longer exist. If a player has been on a 40-man roster this season, he can't be traded until the offseason
Steve did a really thorough look at the rules for this last week for those unfamiliar
