His down month is well above league average offense

What kind of deal will Johnny Cueto command this winter after his amazing season when nobody wanted him in April?
Anthony Franco
8:56
Probably gets to two years, like $12-14MM guaranteed. Still not missing many bats but the command is excellent and he's been basically platoon-neutral

Am I crazy to think Strider’s not getting nearly the attention he should be getting? The list of rookie pitchers with as many IP as him and a FIP under 2 (Assuming he keeps it up for the last few starts) is literally just him and Gooden in the modern era. He’s having inarguably one of the most dominant rookie seasons of all time and people still don’t look at him as a lock for ROTY, never mind being a deserving Cy Young candidate.
Anthony Franco
8:57
I'm going to run something on Strider's season tonight but yeah, he's been incredible. I can't go to Cy Young candidacy given the innings discrepancy between him and, say Alcantara, but he's been maybe the best starter in baseball on an inning-for-inning basis

Does the impending sale have any bearing on when Ohtani might get traded?  I’m assuming it’ll be at next year’s deadline if the Angels are likely out of it.  Would love to see him opening day in my hoemtown team’s uniform but I’m guessing that’s not going to happen.
Anthony Franco
8:58
I don't expect it to push a trade over the line this offseason. Moreno will probably still own the team through most or all of the winter and I doubt he wants to deal him
8:59
Maybe it makes it more likely a new owner signs off a trade next deadline?
New owner could also make a stronger extension offer than Moreno probably would've as well, if whoever buys the team is more willing to surpass the CBT
Derek

Does Aaron Judge get over 350m?
Anthony Franco
9:00
I'll take the under there but over 300

You think STL spends the bulk of the money coming off the books (Molina, Pujols, Dickerson) to ensure Arenado stays put?
Anthony Franco
9:01
I don't think they're directly related. What seems more likely is that they agree to tack on another year at the end or make the 2027 salary a higher number than $15MM
So it's less about getting him more up-front next season than about making the further away part of the deal more appealing

Conforto is going to settle for a pillow contract right?
Anthony Franco
9:02
Yeah I think he pretty much has to at this point
Bucco71
9:02
Is Cease this good or an outlier season?
Anthony Franco
9:03
I think he's just this good. Fully bought in after last year's breakout

If Verlander doesn't pitch again in the regular season, does he still win the AL Cy Young?
Anthony Franco
9:04
I doubt it. Probably would go Cease or Valdez at that point. McClanahan too perhaps, although he's obviously dealing with an injury himself
Astros fan till I die!

As weird as this may sound, after just one start in the majors, I trust Hunter Brown more than I do Phil Maton. Any chance you think that for a middle relief/long inning relief pitcher in the playoffs, Dusty Baker selects Brown over Maton for a roster spot?
Anthony Franco
9:05
They'll probably both be on the roster but I agree, if it's Brown vs. Maton, give me Brown

I got to think the A's move Murphy this winter with Langeliers up, right? If so, what can they get for him? Would one top 100 plus two midrange prospects do it?
Anthony Franco
9:06
Yeah I think he gets moved. I think you're more looking at two upper-tier talents and then a couple guys from the middle of a system. Murphy's really good
Dansby...
9:07
Is an elite ss. He'll not be playing 2b.
Anthony Franco
9:08
Not saying he has to move, but Trevor Story was also a good shortstop who kicked over to second because there was broader interest there

From what you've seen, is Suzuki going to be a solid major league regular over his career with the Cubs? I'm not sold on him yet.
Anthony Franco
9:10
Yeah I'm still really bullish long-term. Does everything well: good plate discipline, above-average contact skills, solid power. Think he's a middle-of-the-order guy
9:11
Alright that's all I've got time for tonight. Have to backfill that Ynoa post
Thanks for all the questions, apologies as always for the stuff I couldn't get to
9:12
You can throw stuff at me on Twitter @affranco10 during the week, and I also run a chat every Friday exclusive to Front Office subscribers
The queues in that are way smaller, so you're much more likely to get a response in those. I typically get to the vast majority of those questions
Memberships also get you weekly analysis articles from Steve and myself, as well as fantasy-themed posts and chats with Brad
9:13
If that's of interest to anybody, you can find out more about it here
We'll do this again next week. Have a great night!
