MLBTR Chat With Mark Polishuk

Mark P
11:33
Both great shows, I go with the Office by a thin margin
Las Vegas Victors
11:34
Hearing rumors of MLB in Vegas. Hear anything similar?
Mark P
11:34
Nothing concrete.  I would guess the Rays or A's would be the only realistic candidates to move, though if such a scenario becomes a reality, other cities will certainly be in the mix
Matt E
11:34
Not sure if that was a HIMYM reference with the salute, but if so, well done.
Mark P
11:35
It sure was!  I was a big fan of that show....until the last couple of seasons.
#WorstFinaleEver
Sorry, #SecondWorstFinaleEver.  Forgot about Dexter.
Brian Downing Faithful
11:36
Trout is locked, Simmons needs to be locked, and Ohtani is not going anywhere soon.  Who can be added that will make them contenders next year?
Mark P
11:36
Any type of reliable and healthy pitching whatsoever
Yodamatt
11:37
Can my Rangers really keep this up
Mark P
11:38
They really need some rotation help, but that lineup is looking quite good.  They've hung in there even with Gallo on the IL
Russ
11:38
Surprise pitcher the yanks could get in a trade?
Mark P
11:38
Grover Alexander

...well, you must admit, it would be surprising
Jerry A
11:39
Wouldn't it make sense for the Marlins to sell high on Nick Anderson's FIP and K rate, as a 28 year old who probably won't figure into the rebuild?
Mark P
11:40
The Marlins are probably open to anything, though Anderson's sample size is small enough that teams aren't going to go nuts over 28 innings of work
The cat
11:40
Predictions on a Marcell Ozuna extension?
Mark P
11:41
I doubt it's happening.  The Cards tends to move quickly to extend the guys they want to keep (Molina, Goldschmidt, Holliday, etc.), so if Ozuna hasn't been re-signed by now, he'll be headed to free agency
I guess it doesn't mean he couldn't re-sign with STL in the offseason, but my guess is he's wearing another uniform on Opening Day 2020

Too bad Giles is hurt - with the state of the Twins pitching staff Giles + Stroman might've brought back some goodies
Mark P
11:44
Giles' injury reportedly isn't too serious, so such a deal could still happen.  But I would suspect Toronto tries to move each pitcher separately, so as to maximize their returns on both rather than settle for one big trade package
Colin
11:45
Would Anthony Rendon help Cubs compete in LA?  They have the firepower to pull of a deal like this, right?
Mark P
11:47
Rendon would help any lineup, though the Cubs aren't an ideal fit.  Chicago probably doesn't want Bryant in the OF every day.  Washington would also ask for a huge prospect haul for Rendon, and his remaining salary (part of $18.8MM) probably puts the Cubs over the highest luxury tax line
Scott
11:47
Cody Allen will be a Met. Yes/No?
Mark P
11:48
They make a lot of sense, with the Callaway/Allen connection from Cleveland.  But once Allen is let go, I think a lot of teams will take a chance on him for a minimum salary to see if he can be put back on track.
Ryan
11:49
If the Twins were to make a move, what type of reliever could Jake Cave bring back? Nick Gordon? Alex Kiriloff?
Mark P
11:50
Kiriloff is a top-10 prospect in baseball, the Twins aren't moving him for a reliever.  I doubt they move Gordon, and Cave would be a part of a package but not the centerpiece for a real difference-making reliever
Peff Jassan
11:52
Read the article on the Rangers pitching, have they not called KC yet on Duffy? Surely they've made him available, and Duff seems to fit what TEX is looking for.
Mark P
11:53
Duffy is pretty pricey, so unless KC ate a big chunk of that salary, the Rangers likely aren't interested
Matt
11:54
Brett Gardner get Traded?
Mark P
11:55
I'm pretty sure he has 10-and-5 rights, so he couldn't be dealt without his permission
Plus, I think the Yankees value him as a clubhouse guy.  And I'm not sure how much of a market there would really be for his services
Dayton Moore
11:56
In 14 seasons as GM (including this one projected out) we've finished in 4th or5th place 8 times and below .500 10 times. Should my seat be hot?
Mark P
11:57
Dayton Moore being the Royals' GM, of course
I think the 2015 World Series more or less gave Moore all the job security he wants
Jason
11:57
If cleveland is truly out of it, would they consider dealing Lindor and what kind of absurd package could they get for him
Mark P
11:59
This could be another case where the Tribe field some offers now to get a sense of what teams are willing to give up for Lindor, and then possibly go ahead with a deal in the winter once the market widens.

I do think Lindor will ultimately be traded by Cleveland.  Just not sure when it would happen.  As much as they could get for him at the deadline, the price tag could be just as big in the winter
Wild Card
11:59
Who is your biggest surprise pick as a wild card?  Could Mets or Padres make it?
Mark P
11:59
The Padres are a long shot, but I still like their chances more than the Mets
*** Sunday, June 16 ***
Matt
12:00
Do we see a Trade like the Anthony Davis one happen?
Mark P
12:00
No simply because MLB doesn't allow major draft picks to be traded
