I feel like saying an NL team just because there's so much parity in that league.  I guess maybe the Reds?  (Assuming they won't make a crazy late run at this year's wild card.)

Who are the giants looking at to manage next year? Really haven’t heard much, Will Bochy have any input on the decision making?
Mark P
10:51
I'd imagine the front office has some candidates at least vaguely in mind, though everyone is being quiet about it out of respect for Bochy's achievements.  It'll be interesting to see if the Giants go internal (a current coach, or someone from their farm system) or pick up a total fresh face from another organization

Two months of Aristides Aquino tearing the cover off the ball enough for ROY consideration?
Mark P
10:53
I have to imagine Pete Alonso has NL ROY in the bag

I know Robles’ numbers are not spectacular but i think Soto/Acuna spoiled everyone into thinking everyone is an automatic star, his ceiling still remains very high does it not?
Mark P
10:54
Robles is 22, displaying some excellent speed and CF defense, and showing some decent pop even if he's still a below-average hitter (91 wRC+) overall.  There's a lot to like about him for sure

Trout has the MVP in the bag 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a comedian this guy is 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😃🤣
Mark P
10:56
Trout's fWAR is 8.2, and the next highest in all of baseball is Bellinger's 6.7.  The closest AL player is Bogaerts at 5.6.

I mean, saying Trout should be the MVP is a controversial pick??
Mike Hazen
10:57
Should I make moves to compete or build towards the future in the offseason?
Mark P
10:58
(Hazen being the D'Backs GM)

I'm a big fan of what Hazen has done in Arizona so far, and I think he'll continue to do what he's been doing --- rebuilding and staying competitive at the same time.

How is he too pricey? They have so much money committed to nobody?
Mark P
11:00
(This is in regards to the Gerrit Cole/Blue Jays question earlier)

He's too pricey because the Jays will have to overpay to get him to join a team that a) isn't competitive yet, and b) is in the AL East buzzsaw.  And while the Jays have played better in the last couple of weeks, there have been a lot of games against the Tigers, Royals, and O's mixed in there.

2020 will be another evaluation year, as while I think the Jays are set on a few pieces in place for "the next contending team," there's still a lot of uncertainty about whether players like Teoscar, Drury, Fisher, Tellez, maybe Jansen, and virtually all of their pitchers are actual building blocks or just guys.

you mentioned that the Pacific Coat League has inflated numbers.  Do you think that Front Offices have metrics for instances like that and Coors field where the splits seem to be inflated?
Mark P
11:02
Front offices absolutely take that into consideration.

This has also been an unusual year for Triple-A evaluation overall due to the MLB baseball being used rather than the standard minor league ball.  JJ Cooper of Baseball America had a real eye-opener of a piece about it recently: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/the-new-triple-a-baseball-has-...

How do the Angels deal with Albert Pujols the next few years? Seems like they're stuck.
Mark P
11:04
Yep, they're stuck unless Pujols retires early.  (Or maybe takes a David Wright-type "stepping away from playing" where he doesn't officially file retirement papers so he can collect the rest of his salary.)

What's with all the O's questions getting on?  No A's love.
Mark P
11:04
O's fans have a lot more questions about their team's direction, whereas Oakland fans have got to be pretty content with how things are going, eh?
World Series
11:05
Let’s say the World Series doesn’t include the Astros dodgers or Yankees...who’s in it??
Mark P
11:05
Wouldn't this be a plot twist?  Cleveland vs. Washington?
