I don't know if Dipoto gets much love from the Seattle fans (even in this chat alone), but that Cano/Diaz trade was a major win for the franchise

Does anyone really know what the Braves are doing?  They seem to keep a tight lip on everything... from Trade targets to FA targets to payroll... nobody caught wind of any of their signing or moves until Braves released media statements...

There's a reason Anthopoulos was known as "the ninja" when he was Toronto's GM.  He and his front offices do a great job of clamping down on rumors and reports
Not that that helps a website like ours!

What about Betts to LAD for the modest group of Ruiz, Jeter Downs, and Josiah Gray.
Mark P
6:32
Still probably more than LA would want to give up for just one year of a player, even one as good as Betts.  Remember, if the Dodgers wanted to add a star, they could trade prospects for someone on a longer-team deal or just sign someone in free agency
HOF prediction
6:33
Will Jeter be alone in joining the HOF class this year?
Mark P
6:34
I think we'll get at least one inductee from the "modern game" veterans committee.  Enough names have come off the ballot last year and it could free up space for Schilling or Walker (or, less likely, Bonds or Clemens) to get the final bump they need to get over 75%

IF Bloom was willing to talk to his old mates about Betts... how does N Lowe and a pitcher like Liberatore, Baz, or McLanahan line up?
Mark P
6:35
I highly doubt the Sox would deal Betts within the division

How do my Angels clear this infield logjam..LaStella(2B,3B); Simmons(SS); Cozart(2B,SS,3B); Fletcher(2B,SS,3B); Ward(3B);
Mark P
6:36
Once you factor in La Stella being used at 1B and Cozart quite possibly being hurt again, it's not really a logjam

Ever get questions from real MLB players or front office types?
Mark P
6:37
Haha, it would be amazing if one of these random questions from "Rick Hahn" or "AJ Preller" or someone was actually the real person, just goofing around
6:38
Lots of people within baseball read MLBTR, so it can't be ruled out!

The Dodgers have won the 5 year 38% drop in payroll championships through hard work, dedication, and believing in htemselves. What's next for Andrew Friedman after this monumental, historic, unprecedented accomplishment? Great GM'ing or Presidenting

Generally, are you surprised by how quickly the catching market has moved? There's still options available of course, but mostly of the back-up variety, and not even the upper-echelon of that tier.
Mark P
6:41
You figured things might move quickly once Grandal came off the board, so when he signed a bit earlier than usual, that set the dominoes falling

Kyle Gibson had one of the higher ground ball rates in the league last year
Mark P
6:42
I meant to say that Gibson allowed a lot of homers last year, he indeed did have a good grounder rate

We've been going for over 2.5 hours, so it's time to call it a chat.  Thanks for all the questions, and for everyone celebrating Thanksgiving today, enjoy your dinner!  If you're texting questions during dinner....geez, put the phone down and eat some turkey!
