I can't totally rule it out, but I think STL might focus more on position players than their rotation.

by the way, Keuchel not referring to his cut fastball as the Diamond Cutter for years is a missed opportunity
Peter A's fan London
6:04
Given whats going on in Miami, Baltimore & (to a lesser extent) Detroit is it time for a minimum payroll spend?  I say this as an A's fan not enjoying turkey.
Mark P
6:05
The MLBPA should absolutely be looking to get a salary floor in the next CBA, and I suspect the owners will fight that as vigorously as the players have fought a salary cap.
Jon Daniels
6:06
Of course I need JD or Rendon for 3rd. But don’t I also need a RH thumping 1B?  Who should I get?  Is Castellanos an option?
Mark P
6:07
(Jon Daniels = Rangers GM)

I actually had Castellanos to the Rangers in the free agent contest, he'd be a sensible fit (and a great fit if he'd be willing to try first base).
"Move to Canada"
6:07
Shame on you. Thanks for perpetuating the blind American negativity towards Canada and Toronto specifically...a WORLD CLASS CITY with WORLD CLASS PEOPLE.
Mark P
6:08
I'm Canadian, so no bias here.  And saying Kyle Gibson might not have wanted to sign in Canada is no different than saying any other free agent might have picked one team over another based on location.
6:09
For instance, if we'd heard Gibson had been pursued by the Angels, I would've written "maybe he wanted to play in Texas instead of California"

Ok, so the Nats are calling the Royals back after their Luis Garcia lead trade package was declined. Mike Rizzo now offers up Carter Kieboom, Mason Denaburg, Erick Fedde for Whit Merrifield. Do the Royals accept? My brother in law (the Royals fan) begrudgingly says Yes!
Mark P
6:11
Kieboom is the type of top prospect KC would demand as the centerpiece of any Merrifield trade.  However, I'm not sure that specific package would work for the Royals, or even for Washington since they're so high on Kieboom
Chris
6:11
Brock Holt seems like a good utility guy for a lot of teams. Why no love?
Mark P
6:12
I'm sure tons of teams are checking in on Brock Holt.  In fact, he probably might not sign for a while due to the heavy interest
Just my opinion
6:12
where do the redsox bring Michael Chavis back into the mix for the new year? He cooled down after a hot start before getting hurt but looks like he has a promising upside
Mark P
6:13
He'll be a candidate for either first base or second base, either as a platooner or maybe even as an everyday player if the Sox are already sold on him.

Pumpkin Pie........Dutch Apple Pie........or Pecan Pie ?
Mark P
6:13
Unpopular take....I'm not a big pie fan.  I'm very much a cake guy.  The only pie I particularly like is lemon meringue and maybe apple in a pinch
Jorge78
6:14
Why do people keep bringing up Merrifield trades?  HE'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE!
Mark P
6:14
Merrifield checks off so many boxes for so many teams that I can't blame fans for seeing him as a great fit on their favorite club.
Chi Sox
6:15
Are we done making moves?
Mark P
6:15
They shouldn't be, given their huge needs in the rotation
Justin
6:16
Do you think the twins should move sano to first, cut cron, and sign a third basemen like josh Donaldson ?
Mark P
6:16
The Twins are reportedly considering such a scenario: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/11/twins-looking-into-free-agent-t...
And no reason they shouldn't.....Twins have a lot of money to spend, they want to win now, and Donaldson would be a boost to an already-strong lineup
Annoyed Mets fan
6:17
Why won't the Mets be willing to go over the tax this year. If they truly want to be competitive this year they will need to cross the threshold. Just think about the amount of money coming off the books after this year between wright cespedes lowrie ramos?
Mark P
6:18
In my view, every single team in baseball should be basically disregarding the first luxury tax level ($208MM-$228MM).  The financial penalty is so small overall that any contending team should be perfectly willing to blow past it in order to add a necessary piece to their roster

DJ being real or blowing smoke on bringing vets in?
Mark P
6:20
Jeter's recent comments (https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/11/derek-jeter-on-marlins-offseaso...) were honest, though obviously the Fish aren't going to be making any big spends on any star veterans.
Grandal
6:21
How many wins above D’ARNAUD am I?  Worth the extra money?
Mark P
6:22
Grandal has been an excellent catcher for several years.  D'Arnaud has been good when he's been able to play, but the injuries are so overwhelming that he can't be relied upon as an everyday player until he can prove he can stay healthy for more than a season.

So in short, the gap in contract size is justified
Jeff R
6:22
Zack Cozart appears to have no place to play, for the Angels, even if he is healthy. Should they be looking to trade bad contract for bad contract?
Mark P
6:24
I'm sure the Angels wouldn't mind moving Cozart if possible, but what team would possibly want him after his last two seasons?
Jerry D
6:24
Are you surprised Thanksgiving has been so slow with how much that happened yesterday?
Mark P
6:25
Not at all.  Yesterday's rush of moves represented teams trying to get some stuff done before the Thanksgiving "break"
strike this (guy) out
6:25
I'm offended that you would answer a question related to the non-existing Major League sequels.  That's like saying Rocky V actually happened
Mark P
6:26
Major League 2 had a few funny moments, at least.
Team Brussel Sprouts
6:26
As bad as that playoff slump was, there's no way the Yankees are trading el Gary, right?  ..... right??
Mark P
6:26
I'd be pretty surprised if Sanchez was dealt
Tigers
6:26
Would Matt Boyd, and Beau Burrows nab Glyber Torres?
Mark P
6:26
Gleyber is as close to untradeable as any player in baseball
Estevão
6:27
Should Jerry Dipoto get a lifetime extension for finding a team willing to trade prospects for a veteran DH making 20+ and a closer
