I would've figured Gio for an MLB deal last year, but oh well. He's the kind of player a pitcher-needy team like the Angels, White Sox, Blue Jays, etc. should be going after as a relatively inexpensive veteran guy

I'd vote no on Murphy, and I'd be leaning hard towards putting Tommy John into the HOF

Jane Leavy wrote a great book about Babe Ruth (and about 1920's/30's culture writ large) last year, it was a very interesting read

There seems to be a decent chance we get an answer on Cole within the next four+ days. If teams are already bidding in the $245MM range, there's only so much higher the bidding can realistically get

Why doesn't MLB allow teams to trade draft picks?

They technically can trade picks, but only in the two Competitive Balance Rounds. I've felt for years that MLB should allow all picks as eligible to be dealt, it would make things more interesting
