Matt Boyd
9:44
Do you think I get traded before spring training or after I re-establish the beginning of last year was not a fluke around, maybe around all-star break?  Seems like someone will want my services if the K's stay and the HR's are less
Mark P
9:45
If Boyd has a solid first half, he's a strong candidate to be moved at the trade deadline.  Doubtful he's moved prior to Spring Training unless a team suffers a rotation injury or two

Who’s your favorite mascot?

Are you buying what the white Sox are doing.  Are they really ready to compete now.
Mark P
9:48
As I wrote earlier, they still need another pitcher and another good hitter before I'd really consider them as legit AL Central contenders.  But as to their overall moves have been, I like them.  Grandal is one of the game's best catchers, Keuchel and Gio (who I think is underrated) are very solid rotation upgrades.
Mazara has change-of-scenery potential, too
Clevinger to the Phils
9:48
Mike Clevinger for Jean Segura (assuming Indians trade Lindor). This way, Bohm can play 3B for Phillies, Didi @ SS, and Kingery at 2nd.
Mark P
9:49
Indians would want say more than Segura for Clevinger

Are the Rangers done adding?
Mark P
9:50
Still need a 3B, another reliever or two, and another good right-handed bat to help balance out that lineup.
Rob
9:51
Will the Yankees be seriously in on Lindor due to needing a lefty bat and a SS?
Mark P
9:51
The Yankees should absolutely be in on Lindor, I see no reason why they wouldn't
Tab
9:54
Do you seeing Jerry Dipoto doing any more trades this off season?
Mark P
9:54
If ever asked if Jerry Dipoto will make more trades, the answer is always 'yes'
Adam
9:55
Any truth to the Padres pursuing Lindor rumors?
Mark P
9:56
I'm sure they have interest, as any team would/should.  But it is a bit of an odd fit, with Tatis penciled in as the shortstop of the future.  Unless San Diego might prefer Tatis at second base.

Why aren't teams targeting Chance Sisco, seems like a decent upside guy + the O's have Adley Rutschman in the pipeline, and they aren't competing in the interim, so what's the deal?
Mark P
9:58
I have little doubt teams have called the Orioles about literally everyone on their roster (well, except Chris Davis) with any big league experience.  Sisco would be an interesting add for catcher-needy teams.

What about the Marlins taking David Price. What would the Red Sox need to attach for them to take part of the contract. Marlins is kinda forced to take some spending plus Price can provide leadership to a young pitching staff.
Mark P
10:00
Miami is an intriguing option, though the thought of them spending anything in the near future seems kinda remote.  But if they agreed to take, say, 60% of Price's contract, they could net a couple of very good prospects
Ryu
10:00
Don't the Angels have to overpay for me now? They are desperate and have no pitcher as good as me. Do I get a 100 million dollar deal out of them? Beggers can't be choosers and I am the best FA pitcher available.
Mark P
10:01
There is no way the Angels or any other team gives Ryu $100MM, despite the interest in his services.  Like I wrote earlier, Anaheim has had enough issues with injury-prone starters that signing Ryu might be a particular concern for them
Andrew
10:02
David Price and Michael Chavis for Brandon Belt and one of either Tyler Beede/Conner Menez/Andrew Suarez... who says no?
Mark P
10:03
If we're talking "bad contract swaps," Belt makes a lot more sense to me than Myers for the Red Sox.  Belt might have some real upside if he gets out of Oracle Park.
NJ Cards fan
10:04
How about Carlos Martinez for Ken Giles in Toronto.  Cards will need a proven closer next year, Carlos can prove his worth as a starter in Toronto.
Mark P
10:04
Ooh, that's an intriguing one, I like it!  The Jays and Cardinals have swung a couple of deals together in recent years

10:05
A lot of talk about Price, does he have a no trade clause?
Mark P
10:05
Nope
Greetings from the Death Star
10:06
Have you heard any teams specifically be at least interested in a JA Happ trade?
Mark P
10:06
The Brewers and Blue Jays have been the only teams cited as having some level of interest in Happ

Houston should be punished with NO draft picks in the next Baseball Draft.
Mark P
10:08
This is an interesting concept.  I wonder what teams would prefer --- losing high picks over multiple teams, or losing one entire 40-player draft class?
Jon
10:09
Because of Pineda's suspension the Twins need to add 2 more legitimate starters to survive the first quarter of the season, what are the most likely scenarios for filling out the rotation.
Mark P
10:11
I'm not sure the Twins wouldn't just try to use their young guys (Smeltzer, Dobnak & Thorpe) to fill both the fifth starter role and fill in for Pineda until he's back.  They absolutely need one more proper, proven MLB starter, however.
Arenado
10:12
Arenado to the Cardinals and Arenado has to give up his opt-out clause. For pitchers Dakota Hudson, Ryan Helsley, catcher Andrew Knizner, infielder Tommy Edman and center-fielder Harrison Bader.  Looks like a win win for both teams!!  Who says no?
Mark P
10:12
Rockies say no, since they aren't getting any blue chippers back.  And what incentive would Arenado have to give up his opt-out?
