Steve Adams
3:48
Come sit by the fire and chat with me about all manners of topics -- but probably mostly baseball, beer, food and maybe a little about me being envious of Zach Links for being down in Florida for Spring Training

Do you think the Braves will move swisher before the start of the season. I think swisher for CJ Wilson would be a nice trade.
Steve Adams
3:49
More likely that he gets released. I don't think the Halos would take Swisher for Wilson, who's still a reasonably effective pitcher when healthy.

As an Angels fan, I said they could win the al west. Now am I being too optimistic ? Bc the media is talking about the astros and rangers for the al west.
Steve Adams
3:51
I don't think it's out of the question -- it's a pretty similar club to the one that almost won the division last year, plus a healthy Tyler Skaggs and Andrelton Simmons. I wouldn't call them the division favorite or anything, but I expect the AL West (all of the AL divisions, really) to be fairly tightly contested.
NY Times reporting Aroldis Chapman suspended 30 games.
3:52
That's enough that he's still free-agent eligible following the season, but he'll still lose about $1.86MM in salary.

Do you think the Cards were right to let Lackey go? I think this year's team will be just as good, if not better, than last years
Steve Adams
3:54
I'd have topped the Cubs' 2/32 offer on him without hesitation. I thought Lackey was going to get a third year this winter even though he's 37. I had him pegged at 3/42 -- I think the Cubs did well on that deal.

Rangers trade Desmond at deadline?
Steve Adams
3:55
If they're not contending, sure, but I doubt that was the plan when they signed him or anything.
Chapman isn't appealing his suspension.

do you see Sean Newcomb and Arron Blair making the braves opening day rotations
Steve Adams
3:55
No, but I can see Blair pitching for them sometime this summer. Newcomb's further out, I'd say.

3:56
Are soler's days numbers?
Steve Adams
3:58
It seems like a waste to use him just as a fourth outfielder, but he'd be a damn nice bench piece for Joe Maddon if that's how they really enter the season with him. I think it makes more sense to deal him for pitching than it would to use him so sparingly, but if they're looking at more than just a straight platoon and trying to get 300-400 ABs for him and Schwarber combined, that's not the end of the world. Soler hasn't been the most durable guy anyway.

If Chapman got 30 games, then Reyes should be around half the season or more right?
Steve Adams
4:00
Yeah -- Reyes has to be *significantly* more. Charges were filed against him and he's going to a hearing... Half the season seems like a reasonable guess. I wonder if Manfred will really throw the book at him and try to ban him for the entire season. There's no real way of knowing -- we're in totally uncharted waters here.

If Buxton doesn't do good to start the year. Who fills in. Kinda sounds like hicks again
Steve Adams
4:01
The Twins traded Hicks to the Yankees, so it definitely won't be him. Danny Santana would probably start in CF, or maybe a non-roster guy like Ryan Sweeney if he wins a job in camp. Rosario's played some center field in the minors as well, so they could stick him in center ad use Arcia (out of options) in left, but Rosario flanked by Sano and Arcia is...... terrifying from a defensive standpoint.

What do you think of the Perez extension?
Steve Adams
4:02
I can't fathom why the Royals would do it, quite honestly. I hate the contract from their end. Good for Salvy though.
4:03
Really -- you have a guy that's already one of the biggest catchers in baseball, who has the highest workload of any catcher in the game, controlled through 2019 for a total of $16.75MM... why on earth are you tacking on two more seasons four years before you have to and at a fairly premium rate? His body could easily be a wreck by then. There's no business sense to it. I'm floored by it.
Ross
4:03
Who are your favorites to win ROY in both leagues?
Steve Adams
4:03
Boring answer to pick the top two prospects in MLB, but they're both still rookie eligible, so Byron Buxton and Corey Seager.
Jack
4:04
How do the rangers get rid of Elvis Andrus
Steve Adams
4:06
I don't know how they could possibly rid themselves of that deal -- it's virtually unmovable in my eyes. I guess they could try trading him for Matt Kemp or something, but it'd have to be someone with an equally undesirable deal, and there aren't many of those in baseball.
Nate
4:06
Any news on Justin Morneau? Seems odd to me that his name isn't coming up too often, even though he won a batting title 2 years ago.
Steve Adams
4:08
Kind of surprised on the quiet nature of his market, too. His agency, generally speaking anyway, doesn't seem to filter a lot of talk out into the media, though. I'd imagine at this point, they'll see if an injury pops up somewhere and creates a spot for him. I still think Houston should sign him, personally.
Adam
4:09
Julio Teheran --- is he actually safe in Atlanta? Or does he get shipped out before the trade deadline?
Steve Adams
4:10
I wouldn't call anyone other than Freddie Freeman "safe" from being traded there. I could see Teheran being traded this winter or even this spring if someone makes an offer to the Braves' liking.
Cliff
4:10
Lazarito to the Dodgers if he signs before the deadline? Braves if after?
Steve Adams
4:10
I like both of those picks. Phillies or Padres seem plausible as well if he waits for the 2016-17 class.
Lucas
4:10
Any time table on when Tim lincecum will have his showcase?
Steve Adams
4:11
It keeps getting pushed back, which can't be a great sign. I haven't seen a recent date put on it -- just "sometime in early March" was the last I saw, if I recall correctly.
Todd
4:11
How do the O's fill the OF hole? In house...Is Rickard the answer? Or do they still look to sign a FA or acquire through a trade?
Steve Adams
4:12
Austin Jackson makes that club at least a full win better if not two. I'd throw $8-9MM at him and stick him in right field every day.
Ben
4:13
Could Detroit pull a prince fielder and ship out upton after a year?
