But that would be more of a mid-September thing, just wanted to bring it up.
Running low on questions and still have a few minutes left if anyone wants to banter.

Im currently in 3rd place in a keep 10 keeper league (14 teams) and have Buehler on my IL, would you trade him for Christian Javier to help make a deep playoff push/run?
Brad Johnson
12:45
I would trade Buehler, yes. For Javier though... that seems a little light imo. How about Javier and a closer? (in which case, maybe wait until the evening on 8/2)
Mark Melancon
12:46
Trending up or down?  I need saves, but he's so hard to watch.
Brad Johnson
12:46
Flatline, but if you need the saves you might as well try him for a minute. Just don't feel bad about cutting him again.

Is it just me, or is there very little trade value for steals this year?  There's nobody really going off, and the ML leader has been on the IL for a couple of weeks and still leads by 5 SBs.
Brad Johnson
12:47
This is a multi-year issue. I actually tried to trade a bunch for Berti right before he went down. Nobody was biting.
12:48
If you want steals mid-season, you have to plan to sell an elite player and a second bit for a Trea Turner type.
Luis Garcia (Nationals)
12:48
He's shown decent power for a young guy in AAA, not so much in the bigs.  The power is there, right?  What kind of numbers do you see him putting him next year?
Brad Johnson
12:49
Yea, there's some pop there, but he doesn't access it often. Could be something he grows beyond or he might top out as a Quad-A type who feasts on scrubs.
12:50
And what I mean by access is he makes too much ground ball contact AND also doesn't barrel/hard contact often.
He's also been horrifically undisciplined in the Majors.
It's wild because the Nats prospects keep turning out undisciplined. And yet this is the same system that produced Juan Soto.

Thoughts on Kopech going forward?
Brad Johnson
12:52
Durability is still unproven. He's another guy who could wander away in early September if the Sox can't pick up some ground. They're only .500, but they're also only 4 games back because the AL Central is still trashy.
12:53
I like the raw stuff, but his execution has backed up to where he was in 2018. That 2021 breakout he showed isn't really there right now.
Showed it in 2020 in exhibition play too

Hey Brad,
I've got Schoop at MI in our AL only league. Dalbec, Kemp and Paredes are available on waivers and fit in his position. Because of the pool rules I can acquire one of these players for $5 against our auction next year vs keeping Schoop at $12 or waiving him and drafting a replacement. Would you consider any of these guys as a better ROS candidate?
Brad Johnson
12:53
Hmm, gimme a minute
12:54
Yea, you've missed the best he has to offer, but Paredes is a better player than Schoop even if he plays less often.
And if I'm reading that right, being forced to keep him for $5 is fine.
12:55
He'll get a good 450-500 PA next year
Schoop would obviously be a cut.
And that's a wrap. Runtime of 58 minutes. All questions answered. Cheers!
