Connor Byrne

He'd be up there. I like that move a lot for the Dodgers.
Vic
6:34
Kevin pillar to the dbacks For 1yr/5M? Takes care of their centerfield problem.
Connor Byrne
6:35
I'd probably rather keep K. Marte out there and sign a second baseman, unless the D-backs trade for S. Marte or even Jackie Bradley
Jon
6:36
Are any of Robbie Ray, Jon Gray, or Chris Archer actually on the trade market?
Connor Byrne
6:36
I think Ray's the least likely to go, as the D-backs are hopeful playoff contenders. Archer's most likely and then Gray.
Greg Jefferies
6:37
Any chance Cubs take a flyer on Curtis Granderson? Thanks Connor
Connor Byrne
6:38
I read the other day that ESPN's eyeing Grandy for a broadcasting role. Can't say I blame them - who doesn't like that guy? He's pretty much done as a player, unfortunatly, though I could see someone giving him a minors deal for the hell of it.
Watts
6:38
Chiefs or 49ers?
Connor Byrne
6:40
The Chiefs were my preseason pick (check a September chat for proof), so I'll stick w/ them and Mahomes. However, I love the 49ers for showing that running the ball and playing defense never go out of style.
Muffin McG
6:40
Is Danny Salazar a potential buy-out candidate? Maybe he gets a shot as a non-roster invitee at this point?
Connor Byrne
6:41
Do you mean buy-low? To answer your question, yes. I think he'll get a low-paying MLB deal or a minors pact.
Angels 1961
6:42
Connor, looks like halos will be going into spring with staff they have. Just do not think it will be enough especially with limits on Ohtani.
Connor Byrne
6:42
Agreed, but at least they have a couple innings eaters now in Teheran and Bundy. Nobody on their staff even threw 100 innings last year.

Football is worse than the Eric Hosmer contract...
Connor Byrne
6:45
Very few things are worse than the Eric Hosmer contract, and football's not one of them.
Bob
6:45
starlin cadtro a hall of famer if he gets to 3000?
Connor Byrne
6:46
He's barely halfway there, so 3,000 isn't happening.
DaTwins
6:46
Do you think the Twins would have to give up a lot to get Chris Archer?
Connor Byrne
6:47
The Pirates aren't in position to ask for "a lot" after Archer's awful season and a half. For that reason, perhaps they'll keep Archer, hope for a first-half bounce-back and then try to trade him in the summer.
Jason Heyward
6:48
Am I a bust due to my post draft hype?
Connor Byrne
6:49
No. You've got 31.1 fWAR and a contract worth, what, 184 mill?
Brody
6:49
Do the yanks want a lot for andujar
Connor Byrne
6:49
GM Brian Cashman loves him, so I don't think they're selling low on Andujar after an injury-riddled season.
Toni with a Y
6:50
Who was the bigger bust overall- Greg Bird or Jesus Montero? At least the Yankees turned Montero into Pineda for a bit but if you include Seattle for Montero too it was pretty bad.
Connor Byrne
6:51
Montero was supposed to be amazing (I still remember his first MLB HR). Bird came w/ way less hype. Montero's the answer.
Mr.baseball
6:51
Puig a good fit for the Cardinals ?
Connor Byrne
6:52
Ehh, they need a clear upgrade if they're going to add another outfielder. Based on what he did last season, not sure Puig's the way to go.
Gwynnopoly
6:53
Is Hader staying put for now? Is Stearns waiting to see how things go up to trade deadline?
Connor Byrne
6:53
Sounds about right to me. Milwaukee's a back-to-back playoff team, and I'm guessing they'll want to see how good they are from April-July before deciding what to do w/ Hader.
Not Your Padre?
6:54
Your dislike for Preller and the Padres is pretty apparent. Fine we don't like Hosmer's contract but I think we can move on from that topic. Anything un-clever/positive to say about them for the upcoming season?
Connor Byrne
6:55
I have nothing against the Padres, but let's face it, that Hosmer contract has stunk from the get-go. Anyway, the Padres have worlds of young talent & I could see them pushing for .500 next season. Positive enough?
Puig Your Friend
6:56
What about Miami?
Connor Byrne
6:57
Puig and Mattingly had friction in LA. Maybe if they can get over that, Puig will end up there on the cheap, though the Fish did address their corner OF w/ Dickerson.
Redbird
6:57
What do you think of Yadi saying he will quit if the cards don't want him? Classy, no? Hall of Fame, easy yes?
Connor Byrne
6:57
He should be a HOFer.
George Will
6:58
Football combines the two worst aspects of American life.  It's violence punctuated by committee meetings.
Connor Byrne
6:58
Don't  make me throw a challenge flag and then take a 10-minute commercial break, George
SouthJerseySteve
6:58
Fred McGriff should be in
Connor Byrne
6:59
To paraphrase the Crime Dog in that Tom Emanski commercial, this has my full endorsement

Why dont more rebuilding teams with extra payroll make trades for players with bad contracts (Like Will Myers) if a prospect is thrown in too?
