Ownership dosn't want to spend the money? Teams don't want to give up good prospects to get rid of a contract? I like what the Giants did earlier this winter w/ the Cozart deal, though.
Alex
7:01
Could you see the Yankees and Giants working something out involving J.A. Happ if the Yankees throw-in a prospect to get them to eat the money?
Connor Byrne
7:02
Speaking of which. I think the Giants make sense there, especially considering GM Scott Harris said the other day they're still trying to add to their rotation.

Terry Collins should manage the Mets in 2020?
Connor Byrne
7:03
Just hire Bobby Bonilla. He's on the payroll until the sun burns out anyway.

Can Ryu pitch effectively in the AL east or does he get lit up this year?
Connor Byrne
7:04
If healthy, yes. Ryu's very good. Is he a perennial Cy Young type, as he was last year? No. But I've got little doubt he'll perform if his health holds up.
Brian Cashman
7:04
What does our team need?
Connor Byrne
7:05
(Yankees GM Brian Cashman) - Bullpen and maybe middle infield come to mind. Best team in the game right now, though, I think.

Does Domingo Santana get a MLB job?
Connor Byrne
7:06
I'm a bit skeptical, and if he does get an MLB job, it won't be for much money. He's an enormous defensive liability who wasn't even that good at the plate last season.
STL
7:06
Are we done, or is there a chance Ozuna comes back?
Connor Byrne
7:07
There's absolutely a chance. Ozuna has said more than once his preference is to remain a Cardinal. STL seems willing to take him back for the right price, and the longer he hangs on the market, the better the team's chances seem to be of having that happen.

As a coach of a 16-18 year old softball team, our signs are stolen all the time.  So we have backup signs and a switch signal.  These guys are being paid millions and can't adjust?  Seems like much ado about nothing to me.
Connor Byrne
7:08
Stealing signs has been going on forever. Just don't misuse technology to do it.
Alex
7:09
Connor, can you rank GMs by hottest to coldest seat? Bridich, Preller, BVW, Eppler, Klentak?
Connor Byrne
7:10
Tough question. I'd probably go Eppler-Klentak-Preller-Bridich-BVW
Clark
7:10
Possible that Twins rotation is actually worse than last year?
Connor Byrne
7:11
It's very possible. Health-wise, the Twins' rotation held up remarkably well last season. Five guys made at least 26 starts. Now they won't have Pineda for a while, and who knows how Bailey and Hill (when he debuts) will perform.

7:12
Do we have a chance at head coaching jobs in the future?
Connor Byrne
7:13
Yes to Hinch. Beltran may be done before he starts. Don't know about Cora, whose suspension hasn't even come down yet
Rick Hahn
7:13
Can 2020 be a success without making the playoffs?
Connor Byrne
7:14
Yes, White Sox GM. Win 80-some games and have your young players continue to take steps forward. I don't think postseason has to be the goal in 2020 by any means.

I love the Felix signing. Great mentor for all those Pitching prospects the Braves have!
Connor Byrne
7:14
Agreed. No harm in that move at all.

How many times do i have to say Nick Senzel is our CF, not our SS?
Connor Byrne
7:15
So where's Akiyama playing?
Jays fan
7:15
Chances Edwin Diaz can bounce back this year?
Connor Byrne
7:16
Good, because he's not going to give up home runs on 27 percent of fly balls again. That's not to say Diaz will return to star form, though.
Alex
7:17
Do you still see Theo running the Cubs after his contract expires in 2 years or is this all setting up for them to "mutually part ways" in the end?
Connor Byrne
7:17
I think Theo's gone when his contract expires. If I'm not mistaken, he's the same guy who said you shouldn't stay in one place for more than 10 years.
LA Blue
7:18
What says you about the Dodgers getting a new third baseman?
Connor Byrne
7:18
If it's Arenado or Bryant, OK (and I'm sure LAD will be/has been in on talks re: those guys, as they're great). Otherwise, Turner can handle it.

What are the chances the Jays go all in over the next year or 2, and put up big offers for some of the upcoming big-name free agents?
Connor Byrne
7:20
They just spent 80MM on a 30-something pitcher w/ an injury history, so I'm sure they'll keep looking to make splashes in the next couple FA classes. But they don't have to be "all in." Their core's still really young.
Jays fan
7:21
Over/ under HR for Vladdy Jr this year?
Connor Byrne
7:22
I'll say 32
Go Cards
7:23
Any chance Ozuna has no chair to sit on when music stops and Cards are there to offer him a pillow?
Connor Byrne
7:23
I definitely think it's possible, which is why he has always struck me as a guy who should've strongly considered accepting the qualifying offer
