Casey Mize breakout in 2022?
Anthony Franco
5:16
Eh, I don't know. He missed surprisingly few bats last year
Am I nutz
5:17
Which one of Story, ketel, or ramirez is playing for Jay's when the season starts
Anthony Franco
5:17
I think Chapman's likelier than any of those guys if they're going big-ticket infielder
I don't think either of Ketel or José Ramírez is getting moved this winter
Les Gomez
5:17
Do you see the Mets making any more significant upgrades?
Anthony Franco
5:18
This is going to feel like a copout, but I really don't know how you could answer that with any kind of certainty
5:19
They're in completely uncharted waters for the organization financially, but they've got an owner who's clearly as motivated to spend to finance a winner as any around the league. Would Cohen sign off on a $300MM payroll? I have no idea
My guess would be they're just going to look for depth additions to the pitching staff and maybe at backup catcher, but they're really a complete Wild Card

Carlos rodon's contract numbers seem all over the place. How much do you think he'll get?
Anthony Franco
5:20
Something similar to the complicated Jake Arrieta deal with Philly
5:21
3/$75MM base guarantee. Rodón can opt out after Year Two but the signing team can override it by tacking up an additional guaranteed year or two
I think that effectively balances Rodon's upside and injury risk for both player and the signing team
5:22
That said, I've been a lot more bullish on Rodon's market than either of Tim or Steve basically since November. So it's possible I'm just way off, but I think teams are more willing than ever to bet on this kind of high-upside, high-risk pitcher

How quickly after the CBA is officially ratified/the lockout ends would you expect the trade market to pick up?
Anthony Franco
5:22
Within two days
5:23
Particularly since it seems like they'll give teams about a month to get al their offseason business done before Opening Day
Trent
5:23
If need be, could Ty France stick at 3B?
Anthony Franco
5:23
I think he could moonlight there on occasion but I'd guess they put Toro there regularly before France

Is there a place for Kyle Lewis on my roster if he isn't playing CF?  If not, wouldn't it be better to put a package together with him in for a true center fielder?
Anthony Franco
5:24
I get the idea here, but there aren't many truly good center fielders who seem likely to be available in trade
5:25
Are the Orioles, as one example, going to value Lewis much as part of a return package for Cedric Mullins when they're both under club control through 2025? I doubt it
Similar logic with Marte and Reynolds
CBA
5:26
Players get early arbitration in return for expanding playoffs to 14, meeting ground for CBT around $230-235 mil, minimum salary at around $725,000, and draft at 5-team lottery? Hire me as a mediator?
Anthony Franco
5:27
League minimum probably comes in under $725K but something in this vein does feel like the endpoint
Chad Green
5:28
Am I going to get traded?
Anthony Franco
5:29
I haven't considered Green as a trade candidate at all. He's only controllable for one year, but idk, that feels too cute on the Yankees part
I think they value him too much as a multi-inning, high-leverage guy to do that
Gunny Highway

Do you see Heaney, Gonsolin or both getting many starts in LA?
Anthony Franco
5:30
I'd set the O/U on Heaney around 20, Gonsolin at like 14

5:30
What do you think about the Orioles moving the fences back in left field at Camden Yards?
Anthony Franco
5:31
Sure, I think it's fine. I'm sure they did a ton of research into how it would affect their home run rates and things of that nature
It's bad news for Ryan Mountcastle fantasy owners, I guess?

5:32
If you're Washington, don't you HAVE to go for it with Soto on the clock?
Anthony Franco
5:32
I don't think there's any real path to contending in 2022 at this point. The pitching staff, in particular, is just too bad to be fixed in one offseason
But I do think they should be aggressive (more so than they have been) in trying to put pieces in place for 2023
Manager / Coach
5:33
When will we see a Female Manager in the dugout? And what teams does it first?
Anthony Franco
5:33
I have zero clue on the team, but I'd guess this happens somewhere by the end of the decade
Jasson Domínguez
5:34
With the latest report saying i am 30 pounds heavier and not exactly muscle..... Am i still a keeper un dynasty leagues?
Anthony Franco
5:34
I wouldn't overreact to that stuff until scouts and prospect evaluators see him in game action again
