If the Braves were able to win the WS without Acuna, do they really NEED Freeman back?
Anthony Franco
5:35
Could they win a World Series if they let Freeman walk and sign Rizzo or trade for Olson? Sure
5:36
But Freeman's clearly better than Rizzo at this point, and Olson's going to require a lot in trade capital

Big Papi, the only HOF name announced in two agonizing hours?
Anthony Franco
5:36
I kinda think we're getting a shutout

Can you explain to me (and I think many others) why the MLBPA would be OPPOSED to an increase in revenue sharing?
Anthony Franco
5:37
The union doesn't think many of the revenue sharing recipients spend the money they're given under that system
5:38
Hence the grievances against the A's, Rays, Pirates and Marlins over the past few years
So, if the union believes Pittsburgh ownership is just going to sit on most of what they receive, they'd rather cut the process entirely and leave even more for the large-market franchises to spend in FA

Over/under on Collin McHugh contract: 2/12 MM
Anthony Franco

I lean slight over

5:40
If you had to choose one team besides the orioles to finish last in the AL East, who is most vulnerable? Yankees, right?
Anthony Franco
5:40
I guess Boston but it's really hard for me to see a path for anyone other than the Orioles finishing in last

I have to believe that every MLB pitcher was once a star on high school and college teams , playing primary positions and hitting. Why do they lose their hitting skills when they get to pro ball?
Anthony Franco
5:41
MLB pitching is so good
5:42
Most pitchers probably starred offensively in high school. That's less true in college, where two-way players are more common than they are professionally but not all over the place
But in high school, they might be facing guys throwing 72-75 MPH. After basically not taking an AB for five-plus years, stepping in against even 90 MPH fastballs is probably pretty daunting

If you had to pick a Worst-to-First, who is it? Orioles, Twins, Rangers, Nationals, Pirates or Diamondbacks?
Anthony Franco
5:44
Minnesota, pretty easily
Don't think they'll do it, to be clear. But I think they're far likelier to pull it off than any of those other teams

Fun question: Who wins an MVP first? Acuna or Tatis
Anthony Franco
5:45
Yeah that's a good one. I'll go Tatís, since it's easier to rack up the huge WAR total as a shortstop than as a corner outfielder

How can anyone take the baseball hall of fame seriously when players like Bonds and Clemons are capriciously rejected
Anthony Franco
5:48
I really can't get too excited about the HOF at this point. I'd put the steroid guys in personally, but I understand why other people feel differently and I find the debate about it all more of a headache than fun
5:49
Speaking of which, the announcement's about to come down
So I have to get going to prepare a post on that
Sorry about the slightly shorter chat this week. I'm happy to take further questions on Twitter @affranco10
5:50
And I also conduct a chat for Front Office subscribers every Friday afternoon
The queues in those are much smaller, so I get to the vast majority of those questions
5:51
If that's of interest to anyone who's not currently a subscriber, here's a link to our memberships
Hope you all have a good night! Talk to you again next week
