When people use the name of a GM, do you ever wonder if it is actually the GM trying to get some free advice on the downlow?
Mark P
8:30
There are enough people in baseball who follow this site that I don't doubt someone, at some point, submitted a question on a lark.

See the Yanks bringing up Jasson Dominguez if Hicks/Judge/Staton have a longer term health issue?
Mark P
8:31
No chance.  Dominguez has yet to play a single game of minor league ball

Where does Robbie Alomar rank all time amongst 2nd basemen?
Mark P
8:32
Top 10 all-time for certain, but I'm hesitant to go top 5

The Nats have many players other than Soto and Turner who have to bounce back from 2020, and signed other key pieces who also have to bounce back. It suggests that the Nats really should be better this year, but isn't it a whole lot to ask?
Mark P
8:36
You're not wrong.  It remains to be seen if a lot of Washington's players struggled in 2020 due to just the short season or random chance.  Under a more "normal" year, quite a few guys could all bounce back at once

Are any teams talking to Maikel Franco? What is his market?
Mark P
8:38
No buzz at all on Franco since KC non-tendered him.
Preseason Predictions!

Who you got for comeback player of the year?
Mark P
8:40
Trey Mancini
DM KC GM
8:40
Merrifield is reportedly happy to play RF full time. Do you expect KC to play Lopez at 2b or will he and Alberto split time
Mark P
8:41
I suspect Alberto will end up getting a pretty good chunk of the playing time
Brewers
8:41
Is Luis Urias already the SS for the Brewers? Based on the comments made so far in Spring, it feels lile the Crew are going to throw him to fire, but for real this time, no?
Mark P
8:42
Milwaukee seems like they'll be somewhat flexible in moving Urias, Arcia, and Robertson between SS and 3B, with Shaw also an option for third.  Urias might get the majority of shortstop time, though Arcia and Robertson will also get some looks based on matchups.

Why should I remain a Diamondbacks fan. Never gonna abandon my Snakes but it’s been tough.
Mark P
8:44
If it helps, I still think Hazen has that team going in the right general direction.  Last year might have been just a Murphy's Law season (this seems to be the stance the team has taken), and there is still a lot of talent on the roster.  Unfortunately, the D'Backs are also in a division with the Dodgers and Padres, so their ceiling is limited.

8:45
will we get a full season in?
Mark P
8:46
I am cautiously optimistic a full season is possible.  It's a bit easier to make up games in baseball than in other sports due to the existence of doubleheaders, and teams now have more experience in COVID protocols.

Is a prospect like kelencic able to request a trade?
Mark P
8:46
He can, but he doesn't exactly have a ton of leverage
Do you know the

Ball player who had all 5 vowels in his first name?
Mark P
8:49
I feel like there must've been a player named "Aurelio" at some point, right?
John

My neighbor says the Brewers will sign Jackie Bradley Jr? I say he will sign with the Astros who has the better chance of being correct?
Mark P
8:50
Is your neighbor Scott Boras or David Stearns?

Brewers are an interesting team to be in on Bradley, they make more sense the more I thought about it
If I had to guess, I'd lean towards the Brewers, if these reports about Houston wanting to avoid the luxury tax are true

Your 2B answer was intriguing. If Alomar isn't top five who are? I mean Mark Lemke is a given, but the other four?
Mark P
8:53
Off the top of my head, I'd put Hornsby, Morgan, and Lajoie already of Alomar.  Eddie Collins probably as well.
8:54
Charlie Gehringer is right up there too.
Ryan Braun
8:55
Am I retired?.  Do I wait for the DH to come to the NL next year and sign back with the Crew
Mark P
8:56
From Braun's most recent comments, it sounds like Brewers or bust: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/02/latest-on-ryan-brauns-future.ht...
Sir mix-a-lot
8:56
How would you grade the Angels off-season?
Mark P
8:57
B or B-

Their team is better now than it was at the end of 2020, but I still question whether they have enough to make serious noise in the AL West.
Jackie Robinson
8:58
Come on Mark, I’m way better than Morgan, Collins, or Gehringer.
Mark P
8:59
Aw geez, of all the guys to omit!  Though Jackie did spend a good chunk of time at the corner infield spots too, not only 2B
9:00
I will also take this moment to shout out Bobby Grich, Lou Whitaker, Frankie Frisch, and the many other great second baseman everyone is kindly (well, mostly kindly) reminding me about in the question queue
Jill
9:01
Can Cleveland win the AL Central?
Mark P
9:02
It's not out of the question.  They still have the best overall rotation in the division, and if they one or two players to break out and help the lineup, Cleveland can be a big contender
We've almost hit the two-hour mark, time to call it a night.  Thanks for all the questions, and let's all enjoy some actual honest-to-goodness Spring Training baseball this week.
