He's still only 22, so Moniak can certainly still have a productive career ahead of him as a big leaguer.  Based on his minor league career, I don't really see him as a future superstar.  But that being said, if you look at the list of 1-1 picks throughout history, it's not a large number of actual superstars.

He'd be an interesting trade chip, as a player who can excel at multiple infield positions defensively, and he's controlled through 2023.  The Rangers aren't planning a super-long rebuild so I'm not sure he wouldn't be in their future plans, but a case can also be made that they might want to sell somewhat high on a player who hasn't shown much at the plate

.276/.387/.513 with 232 homers over his first nine full seasons.  And he's still only 28, so if he racks up five or six more years like this, that's already a pretty decent resume.  If the Phils ever win something, that only helps the narrative.

If anything, I almost feel Harper is slightly underrated at this point.  I don't think he's a "best player in baseball" type and his contract will always be hanging over him, but to consider him a disappointment seems pretty inaccurate

In a pretty crowded shortstop market?  I'm leaning towards no, though probably not by much.
Lindor was obviously making a fortune regardless, but I think he had a bit of extra leverage over the Mets as "their guy."

It's interesting that no extension was reached, I think a lot of people (myself included) figured that Freeman and the Braves would get something worked out pretty easily.

Not that an extension still couldn't happen, of course.  And it would be hilarious if the Angels finally Pujols' contract off the books, only to replace him with another high-paid superstar first baseman from the NL who's in his early 30's

Blasphemy I know but who does Julio fetch if we go with an outfield of JK, Kyle Lewis and Haniger for the next few years and flip him for an ace? Also, what’s the chances Ms are in on one of the big shortstops this winter? Trevor Story or another Seager would look good on the left side.

I can see the M's going after a shortstop, for sure, though it'd be interesting to see what Kyle might tell his brother about playing in Seattle and whether that could be a factor one way or the other.

As for trading Rodriguez, I mean, that's just straight-up not going to happen.  But if Dipoto did want to swing his biggest trade yet, offering Julio would be a big step towards landing just about anyone.
