Trader Joe
9:03
Austin Riley and Drew Waters for J-Ram. Who says no?
Mark P
9:04
Cleveland.  Again, Ramirez is one of the most valuable trade chips in baseball.  Riley/Waters is a nice combo, but the Tribe can likely find another team who can top it
All star question
9:06
Does ohtani take a space away from another all star by being a pitcher and player?  Why is trout still listed even though he has not played since may?  Should they have a min number of games to be in all star game?
Mark P
9:06
Ohtani isn't taking up two spots, no.  Trout was voted in by the fans, and obviously he won't be playing in the game.

9:07
Should the Braves make a trade for Mullins?
Mark P
9:07
Can't hurt to ask, sure.  But the Orioles will naturally have a gigantic asking price that Atlanta will probably be hesitant to meet

Do you believe the A's are more likely to sell now after these last two weeks of play?  The offense and bullpen have both looked atrocious and it feels like there are too many holes to plug up currently.  Is this a gross overreaction or do you agree there are too many issues to fix?
Mark P
9:09
Gross overreaction.  The A's are still in very good shape to make the postseason, and they'll be buyers at the deadline.
9:10
I guess I wouldn't rule out a buy-and-sell scenario if it's a question of making salaries fit, but the Athletics will be looking to add for certain
kurt the hurt
9:11
Who saw the Brewers being this good?
Mark P
9:12
The Brewers have made the postseason three years running, it's not exactly a shock.  Plus, the NL Central was so uncertain going into the season that if you'd told me one of the top four teams would really separate themselves, I wouldn't have been surprised.
Best Bad Team
9:13
Who is the best bad team by record in baseball and what do they need to contend?
Mark P
9:14
Sadly for Marlins fans, the only thing they'll win this year is "Best Bad Team" honors.  Miami is 35-47 despite having a +20 run differential.....that's just brutally bad luck.

Overall, the Marlins need hitting, hitting, and more hitting.
Indians Fan 4 Life
9:16
Indians would want major league ready talent for J Ram they don’t rebuild they reload and Teoscar Hernandez may have to be in a deal. J Ram is top 5 in WAR since the 2nd half of 2019 and is a 3 time mvp finalist
Mark P
9:18
Hernandez is an interesting trade chip, in regards to a potential Ramirez deal.  Again, I don't really expect Cleveland to move Ramirez at the deadline, or maybe even until the 2022-23 offseason.

But if you're Toronto and you have an overloaded outfield even before Dickerson comes off the IL....suddenly Hernandez looks kind of expendable.  btw, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but Hernandez and Ramirez probably have pretty similar statlines since July 2019.
Injured All Star
9:20
So Glasnow not an All Star because he is injured but Mike Trout is an All Star because…he is injured. Makes perfect sense.
Mark P
9:20
Trout was voted in by the fans, however

Should teams be allowed to trade draft picks?  I think it would add excitement.  What says Mark please?
Mark P
9:22
I'm all for teams being allowed to trade draft picks.
Nelson Cruz
9:24
Where do you see me playing this time next month?
Mark P
9:25
Tampa or (how about this?) Seattle
Bill
9:25
They aren't going to compete this year, but do you see the tigers going after someone like Trevor Story at the deadline or possibly waiting until free agency to fill the position?
Mark P
9:27
There's no point in them getting a rental player like Story, but it would be interesting if the Tigers got a controllable big-ish name, if they think they're ready to turn the corner by 2022.  I still tend to think the front office is going to continue playing slow and steady with the rebuild, however, and you might not see the bigger moves be made until this offseason at the earliest
Russ
9:27
Should the Rays buy or look to retool for next year?
Mark P
9:28
The Rays are always perpetually going both, but make no mistake, they're aiming to return to the postseason
Mets Trade
9:29
What moves do you see the Mets making? What is their biggest need? Gotta be SP right? Are you surprised to see so many third base rumors?
Mark P
9:31
To some extent yes, since JD/Villar with a side dish of Guillorme seems like a pretty decent combination.  If a major upgrade is available, obviously the Mets should look into it at the right price (and Davis might be a trade chip rather than a building block) but the rotation certainly seems like a bigger need
9:35
That's it for tonight, thanks for all the questions!
