I agree with the sentiment that Chicago's bigger need is second base and catcher, moreso than outfield

Can you tell me, how can the Red Sox make trades, when they are so close to the luxury tax?

They could try to move one of their current salaries as part of a creative trade to free up money.  

Or, they could just bite the bullet and pay the tax.  After getting under the threshold last year and resetting their penalty, the Sox would only be taxed at the first-timer rate for an overage.  Since this is a team that looks like it can contend for a championship, it would be pretty ridiculous if ownership didn't allow the front office to make necessary upgrades just for the sake of saving literally only a few million bucks in tax payments

I think based on the work done at 1B this year Vladdy Jr deserves another real shot at 3B. Tough to use his former stats when, with the weight loss, it’s almost a different guy athletically. What say you?

I think if it isn't broke, don't fix it.  Vlad is playing well defensively as a first baseman and his hitting is through the roof.

The Rays are perpetually in both short-term and long-term mode, so I fully expect them to add some immediate help at the deadline.

G'day!  If I had to make a guess, I'd say Crawford re-signs, Posey's option is picked up but some kind of extension is worked out to lessen his AAV, and Belt moves on,

I would be shocked if the Yankees actually went over the tax threshold, since avoiding the tax seems to be their biggest priority for the season
