It's been a rough year to say the least, and even his 2020 season was pretty modest (with the caveat that last year was a very wonky outlier of a season).

If I'm the Dodgers, I'm ok just taking it year-by-year with Bellinger to see if he can get back on track.  No reason to make a commitment about a big extension just yet, since Bellinger is controlled through 2023

Hitting, and lots of it.  As we've seen this year, the NL East teams have a lot of holes, so Miami suddenly emerging into contention in 2022 isn't that far-fetched.

If the Braves haven't gone "full force" in extension talks yet, it likely isn't happening before Freeman hits the open market.  If pressed, I would still predict Freeman is back with the Braves in 2022 and beyond, though I'm as surprised as anyone that this extension wasn't worked out months ago
