Does Dusty Baker come back next year?
Mark P
7:22
There has been surprisingly little news about Baker's contract situation, since his deal is up at the end of the season.  He said last December that he was happy to just wait and see, but now that the Astros have another division title, you'd think the club would have interest in retaining him.

Then again, if the Astros win the Series, I can also see Baker riding off into the sunset with his long-awaited ring

How many MLB players do you think regularly (or semi-regularly) browse MLBTR?  10?
Mark P
7:23
Quite a few players follow us on Twitter or have our app.
Ten players per team is my conservative estimate, certainly far more than 10 in the whole league

If we take hosmer back what kind of prsopect(s) could we expect?
Mark P
7:26
Hosmer has a ten-team no-trade clause, so if the Royals are on that list, he'd have to be willing to return to KC.

I can see a scenario where the Royals could unload a couple of their bigger contracts (Minor and Santana's final years) to make the money work, and still get at least one good minor leaguer from the Padres

Who survives the NLeast and provides their fan base an extra week of misery?
Mark P
7:27
The Braves and Phillies still have to play each other in a massive three-game set, but since the Braves are (at this moment) an inning away from a 2.5 game lead, they have to be the favorites

We can make the world series ?
Mark P
7:28
Sure.  As long as you're in the playoff bracket, anything can happen.

Do you see Noah sisynpp taking the qualifying offer ?And if he doesn't Do you see him getting more than a 1 year deal anywhere christama
Mark P
7:31
I'd guess Thor definitely takes the QO if offered, since his chances of landing an acceptable multi-year deal are pretty slim.  If you're Syndergaard, surely you're thinking that you can bounce back to form in 2022, and then score the big contract next winter

Orioles and D-backs fighting for the first pick. Any clear cut #1? Or too soon? Orioles gotta be taking a college starter no?
Mark P
7:32
Outfielder Elijah Green is the favorite for 1-1 at this point, but obviously a lot can happen between now and next year's draft

What does an extension for Juan Soto look like?
Mark P
7:34
$500MM seems like a realistic bar to clear.  Scott Boras (Soto's agent) will definitely be looking to top that threshold.

Evan white hasn't shown he can hit MLB pitching.  M's regretting his extension?
Mark P
7:37
His extension isn't super-costly, so even if White does end up being a bust, it isn't going to make or break the Mariners.

Also, White has barely 300 MLB plate appearances, so it's also way too early to write him off

With the Sox so worried about the tax who should they target to improve the rotation?
Mark P
7:38
This is the "cut the Gordian knot" answer, but....they shouldn't be worried about the tax.  They'd be penalized at the lowest rate if they exceeded the tax threshold this winter, and that's assuming that the tax system isn't overhauled anyway in the next CBA.

With rumors of the Angels not looking to spend big at SS this off-season, who are some realistic options for them?
Mark P
7:40
This is an expenditure of a different sort, but if I'm the Angels, I'm checking in with Tampa on Brujan or Walls.

Jose Ramirez to the Nats for Cavalli, Robles, and Kieboom…..who says no?
Mark P
7:41
Cleveland.  They can get way more for J-Ram elsewhere

Super Bowl pick?
Mark P

My boring preseason prediction was a Chiefs/Buccaneers rematch.  So, uh....I may not know what I'm talking about.

Who says no? Dom for Senzel?
Mark P
7:43
Assuming you mean Dominic Smith, I suspect the Reds say yes even if they don't know if the NL will have the DH next year

Mark, yesterday was "Bob Uecker Day" in Wisconsin, as the Brewers and beyond celebrated "Mr. Baseball's" 50 years of calling Brewer games. Have you ever met Bob Uecker? Yes or no, do you have any thoughts or stories about Ueck from a personal perspective?  At 87 years old, he still sounds great on the radio!
Mark P
7:44
I've never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Uecker, but everything I've heard from those have met him has said he's just as friendly and funny in real life as he is on TV or on the radio.

When my friends and I were in Milwaukee for a baseball road trip many years ago, we purposely left the game in the seventh inning just so we could augment our experience by hearing Uecker for a few innings on the radio.

Will Rocco Baldelli still be Minnesota's manager next season?
Mark P
7:47
I would imagine so.  Baldelli doesn't (or shouldn't) seem at fault for essentially a team-wide disappointment
Hmm
7:48
Who are some candidates for GM positions that you like?
Mark P
7:49
It seems like the Rockies will just keep Bill Schmidt, the Mets are looking for a new PoBO, and the Cubs for a new GM to work under Hoyer.  Besides them, it doesn't seem like any major PoBO/GM openings will be available, barring an end-of-the-year surprise.
Ray K
7:50
Hoyer says that the Cubs will be active in free agency. I'm not buying.
Mark P
7:50
"Really active" could mean they sign several mid-tier players, without any big splashes.

Do you think believe the Padres will replace Preller after the late season collapse?
