It seems like there's way too many hard feelings between Kyle Seager and the Mariners for a reunion.  And I would imagine that could very well impact Seattle's chances of signing Corey Seager as well.

It bothers me how so many fans (the vocal ones, at least) have no problem with teams underpaying players for so many years, or praise them for signing players to deals for less than they’re worth, but then get angry and claim a player “stole” from their team if they don’t perform as well as hoped or for the entire length of a contract

I think the logic there is "they're making so much money anyway, why would they care if they take a little less?", as flawed as that logic is.

Last year, it was reported that Rizzo & Bryant tried packaging themselves together for proposed extensions with the Cubs. Could you see them landing on the same team in free agency? And could a team potentially sign 1 to sway the other?
Mark P
8:33
Since Rizzo and Bryant have different agents, such a deal would be awfully hard to manage.  Heck, it'd be tough even if they had the same agency.

Could Jeff McNeil be a Royals target similar to Benintendi was a yr ago?
Mark P
8:35
Definitely, though if the Mets were shopping McNeil, a lot of teams would be interested (his down year in 2021 notwithstanding)

Oakland Aces? Would they go that lame? Or keep the Athletics moniker?
Mark P
8:37
If the team does move, I truly hope they don't change the name.  The Athletics name has 121 years of history behind it, and is the only connective tissue for this franchise that would be moving to its fourth different city

Why is Trevor Story so underrated this off-season? One down year shouldn't drop his value that much.
Mark P
8:38
I think it's more a combo of the down year and the Coors Field factor.  And, I'm not really sure Story is "underrated," per se.  We still have him projected for six years and $126MM

Is Kim a trade candidate for SD since their infield is set?  Where does he rank among other SS trade possibilities like Ahmed and DeJong?
Mark P
8:42
Certainly lower, since Kim has yet to prove anything at the MLB level.  I don't think it's out of the question that the Padres can deal him, however, and some teams will certainly be interested in seeing what Kim can do with more regular playing time (or just away from the Padres' weird 2021 environment)

What is our fallout plan if we don’t sign one of the big free agent shortstops?
Mark P
8:44
Swing a trade for a veteran shortstop, maybe only as a bridge to Kreidler is the team is that high on him

Would you rather sign Marte or Castellanos for the SF outfield? Why?
Mark P
8:47
I'd personally go with Marte because he's a better defensive player, and it's not like there's a big offensive gap between him and Castellanos
