Suzuki is probably the likelier of the two, since the Cubs are more likely to meet his asking price than spend $300MM on Correa.

1:12
What kind of market is there for Dom Smith, Jeff McNeil or JD Davis?
Mark P
1:13
Pretty solid for all three players, even if Mets fans' suggestions of packaging 2-3 of those guys together for a star player is off-base

Is Adam Frazier available? If so what would the White Sox need to give up in return?
Mark P
1:14
I think the Mariners see Frazier as a nice addition and aren't looking to flip him immediately

Do you have an opinion on the future of Jared Kelenic as a player? We have high hopes here in Seattle regardless of his rookie year struggles. Can we trust the Sept JK more than the May-Aug JK?
Mark P
1:15
It's way too early to pass judgement on Kelenic after 377 Major League plate appearances.  He's only 22, plenty of time for him to be an impact player or star in the bigs.  It wouldn't be surprising if he has a big year in 2022

Do I have the guts to trade Ashby to the A's for Olson?
Mark P
1:17
It would be a bold move on the Brewers' part, but maybe a necessary one for a team that wants to win a World Series.  Olson is so valuable, however, that if Ashby is the top piece of a Milwaukee trade package, the A's could quite possibly find a better offer elsewhere

Rick Porcello. Where am I a good fit? BOS, DET, SF, PHI, TB maybe. Others?
Mark P
1:19
At this point, Porcello would likely be taking a minor league deal since he hasn't pitched in over a year, so really any team could potentially be a fit

I highly doubt Falvey was caught flatfooted in the pre lockout FA spree. Seems more likely he really wants to ride or die with his pitching prospects, who've been delayed by covid/injuries. If Twins trade for pitching, it will  be position players prospects.
Mark P
1:21
If they have faith in the young arms, that's fine, except it's also a mighty big risk to take when most of the Twins roster is built around winning now.  If the young pitchers don't pan out in 2022, then you've wasted another year of Donaldson, Polanco, Buxton, etc.

Minnesota will almost certainly add at least one notable front-of-the-rotation arm, since I find it hard to believe they'd be comfortable with their current rotation

Teoscar Hernandez for Kyle Hendricks (sp?) Who says no?
Mark P
1:23
Toronto.  Hendricks is coming off a down year, whereas Hernandez is one of the more underrated hitters in the sport
Stott’s Tots
1:24
Why do people think the Phillies will sign Correa? Especially when he is projected to make $32 AAV and Stott is close to the majors?
Mark P
1:25
Stott could take over second base in the future since Segura is a free agent after the 2022 season.  Or, the Phillies could potentially float Stott as a trade chip, but this scenario seems less likely since the Phils badly need young talent

How are you projecting Bieber's '22? Is the shoulder injury in the rear view mirror at this point?
Mark P
1:26
Bieber seemed to be recovered, as per the last updates.  No reason to believe he couldn't get back to his old form in 2022

1:28
Which team will actually deal from its SP depth: Miami or Oakland?  Which player do you see most likely dealt?  And for fun what is the package for said player?
Mark P
1:29
Both are likely to deal a starter post-lockout, and with Oakland it's just a question of how many of Manaea/Bassitt/Montas will be moved, or if it'll be just one of them for now.
1:30
Miami has a bit more flexibility in that they're under no pressure to move any of their young arms immediately, unless it's for a good offer.

1:31
Most likely first to last team from last year?
Mark P
1:33
I'd be pretty stunned if the Orioles, Pirates, or D'Backs suddenly won their divisions in 2022.  The Twins are maybe the likeliest just because they have talent on that roster and so many things went wrong for them last year, but the AL Central is only getting better.

The Nationals also need some upgrades to have a realistic shot in the NL East, though every team in that division has its share of flaws (even Atlanta).  As for the AL West, it's possible Texas might simply sign all the remaining free agents.

1:34
Does it surprise you how much of the fanbase takes the owners' side over the players?
Mark P
1:35
Not really.  The players, their salaries, and their ups-and-downs on the field are much more familiar to the average fan.
MoonBeamMcSwine
1:35
psssst.. first to last.. not the opposite, mark..
Mark P
1:36
LOL, well, I totally misread that question.  Uh, nothing to see here!

First to worst is a much trickier call.  I guess the White Sox, just because the gap between them and the Twins is small than the gap between the best and worst teams in the other divisions

A recent survey in The Athletic showed that only 11% of the respondents are angry about the labor dispute.  How can number be so low?  I am pissed that we almost surely will lose games.  Aren’t you angry?
Mark P
1:38
I think that 11 percent number is scary for baseball for another reason.....it indicates that a good chunk of the fanbase might simply not care, and apathy is worse than anger
Warwick Davis
1:38
what is your prediction for the royal rumble?
Mark P
1:39
I hate to spoil the surprise, but I'm in the match.  As long as I get a decent number, victory is assured!!
@Mark
1:39
Why do you hate the White Sox so much?
Mark P
1:40
I have no ill feelings towards the White Sox!  Thinking they're in for a challenge in repeating as division champions is a realistic take.

Is the Ray's rotation set or  maybe take a look at Zach Greinke to give them an innings eater and some more veteran leadership?
Mark P
1:42
Greinke would be interesting but I think Tampa has already filled its veteran arm quota with Kluber

The Rangers reached out to CIN earlier in the off-season about starting pitching. I read the article on here about SD’s potential surplus of starters. Do you think there could be a potential connection due to the Preller relationship
Mark P
1:45
It's certainly possible, and the two sides already had a lot of talks at the trade deadline in trying to arrange a Joey Gallo trade.  In general, however, I kind of feel like the Padres might hold onto their pitching for the first half of the season to see who's healthy, after all year's injury barrage.
1:46
They can still make a move at the deadline if necessary, but the Padres don't want to be caught short-handed again if they trade a pitcher or two now, then get hit by injuries again
Rangers Dreamer
1:47
Would Kershaw, Suzuki, and a mid rotation arm be enough to push the rangers into playoff/WS contention?  Is it possible to get that much more after the other signings we have had?
