It would be awfully bold and cool to see the Tigers do that, but like I said earlier, I suspect they've already made their biggest splashes of the offseason.
6:09
Giving up another draft pick for Correa would be another possible impediment for the Tigers, beyond just the money
Ammiel
6:10
i know already a lot of talk here about Freddy, but do you think the Giants are a darkhorse to sign him, to replace the Posey bat?
Mark P
6:11
Given the presence of Brandon Belt, yes.  I realize Belt is only under contract for one year, but having both Belt and Freeman locking up the 1B/DH spots would seem to run counter to the ideas of a team that prizes versatility

6:11
Why did the Braves sign another major league catcher? Do we not believe in our catching prospects?
Mark P
6:12
I think it's more an acknowledgement that d'Arnaud isn't likely to be healthy for a full season, and it's a tall order to ask Contreras or Langeliers to immediately contribute to a contender

Once a question is passed by, it's gone, right? I mean, do you ever look back at previous q's or do you always look forward?
Mark P
6:13
I do scan back earlier in the chat for any questions I might have missed, yeah.
Jeff
6:13
Which Central team’s future do you like better - Kansas City or Pittsburgh?
Mark P
6:13
KC.

Are you excited for the expected rash of signings as soon as the MLB has an agreement? Is it worse to be overwhelmed with stories to cover or having to come up with interesting content when not much is happening?
Mark P
6:15
Believe me, after two months of slim pickings on the news front, I am more than ready for a few days of onslaught.
GHoyle
6:15
Admit that you hate Pittsburgh.
Mark P
6:16
I love Pittsburgh!  It's one of my favorite cities I've visited in the U.S., and it has arguably the best ballpark of them all.

6:16
Orioles draft a pitcher or best available first pick of the draft?
Mark P
6:17
Best available player.  Early word on the 2022 draft is that most of the top-tier prospects are position players, so the O's will likely get a bat

Super bowl prediction?
Mark P
6:19
I think the Rams win, but I am very ready to be wrong, given how the Bengals have surprised me all January

Over/Under 72 wins for the Washington baseball team in 2022…
Mark P
6:21
Well you know something Mean Gene, the Nats have a lot of holes on the roster, brother, and I think they're looking at another rough season unless they either need a lot of their young guys to break out or else they make some notable acquisitions, post-lockout
Will
6:23
Do the Yankees rebound to the 100 win team? Or are they really a wild card team??
Mark P
6:23
I mean, winning "only" 92 games in the toughest division in baseball is still really good.

Was Wheeler's '21 season his highpoint or due you think it's his "new" normal?
Mark P
6:26
It's quite possible Wheeler already peaked, just due to age and the fact that it's really hard to have a season as good as his 2021 campaign.  But the Phillies will happily take a season that's even 80% of Wheeler's 2021.  And hey, maybe he has indeed turned a corner and is now a true ace-level starter
He was already a very good pitcher, so seeing him take another step forward isn't a shock
Ryan S.
6:27
Royals have Ryan O'Hearn and Santana at 1st. O'Hearn isn't an OFer. Pratto crushing AAA
Mark P
6:27
Pratto is a really intriguing prospect, and maybe something of a hidden gem considering how Witt (and justifiably so) gets most of the hype
David

Over/under 125 games Mondesi plays?
Mark P
6:29
How many games does Adalberto Mondesi play this season?

Over 125 (15.1% | 27 votes)

Under 125 (84.9% | 152 votes)

Total Votes: 179
Why why why

Why did the Orioles draft Kjerstad 2nd in 2020 when the could have drafted significantly better players? Kjerstad isn’t even in the top 5 in the organization or 100 in the league.
Mark P
6:31
The Orioles' strategy has been to maximize their bonus pool, perhaps taking a semi-flier on a high pick who will sign for below slot so the O's have more to spend on better players lower in the draft.

And Kjerstad's health issues were something that couldn't have been predicted.  Thankfully, he seems healthy now and ready to begin his pro career.

Top 5 ballparks in service today?
Mark P
6:33
Of the ballparks I've been to, I'd say PNC Park (Pittsburgh), Oracle Park (SF), Wrigley (Chicago), T-Mobile (Seattle) and Comerica (Detroit)

Myers and Knehr for Kimbrel make any sense?
Mark P
6:35
That's an interesting one.  Right field is less of a need for the Sox than 2B, and Myers might not necessarily be seen as an upgrade over what Vaughn might do in 2022.  But, the inclusion of Knehr makes that interesting for Chicago.

Would Andrew McCutchen accept a contract with his old team, the Pirates?
Mark P
6:35
Pretty unlikely.  McCutchen surely wants to join a team that is set to contend immediately.

6:36
I assume your answer about ballparks means you haven't been to Camden Yards. I recommend the BBQ sandwich...
Mark P
6:37
I have yet to visit Camden.  Maybe now I can go see these new fences!
