Tie Game?
11:55
IMO: If a game is tied after 10 innings. It should just be declared a "Tie". ...................Why Not?
Mark P
11:56
As a longtime soccer fan, I have no issues with a game being called a tie after, say, 12 innings.  But I can understand why a lot of baseball fans are totally against the idea of a draw

I much prefer your slower implementation after 10th inning version of the Ghost Runner.
(Sorry this isn't a question.)
Mark P
11:56
I ain't afraid of slow ghost

Is it possible Falvine simply like the starting arm options in house more than we realize? Even if the move is for a Manea/Montas, Twins would still be leaning pretty heavily on Ober/Ryan/Winder.
Mark P
11:59
It's fine to think that trio has potential, but it's a real roll of the dice when the majority of your rotation has no real MLB track record.  At least if you add another established veteran, having the three newbies battle over two spots creates some depth

Why have the Angels yet again failed to add to their rotation?
Mark P
12:01
While they could've/should've done more with the starting six, I do like the Angels' bullpen additions.  If just "the pitching" in general is better rather than just the starting pitching, that still helps keep runs off the board

Do you see any more moves for the Mets? Perhaps Watson or Conforto?
Mark P
12:03
Watson is a maybe, but I think the ship has sailed on Conforto
Randy
12:04
Your thoughts on why Freedie Freeman ended up on the dodgers?
Mark P
12:05
The Braves simply didn't want to make that size of a commitment to a player Freeman's age.  They quickly pivoted to acquire and then lock up Olson, so it wasn't about money.
12:06
For the Dodgers, their approach is "hey, Freddie Freeman, he's awesome!" and make the deal.  If Freeman does decline, having his salary on the books isn't as big a concern for a free-spending club like L.A.

Reds have a chance at the top draft pick in '23?
Mark P
12:06
Based on the new lottery system, sure

Why doesn’t Seattle keep Lewis as their everyday CF and get a real DH?
Mark P
12:08
It's an open question as to how much fielding Lewis will be able to do, coming off his injuries.  The Mariners will use him liberally at DH to see how he's faring, and if Lewis is healthy and able, I'm sure he'll get some reps in center again
Hahn
12:09
One move you like to complete the team?
Mark P
12:10
Rick Hahn = White Sox GM

By this point, I'm leaning towards another SP as Chicago's biggest need, moreso than 2B or OF depth.  Maybe I just like Josh Harrison more than most, but I think he was a nice signing for them to solidify second base

The question asked if he'd retire in 2023, not now

Shogo Akiyama for Scott Kingery? Bad contract swap that makes sense
Mark P
12:14
I still feel like the Phillies wouldn't move Kingery for a spare part, even though Kingery's value is awfully low right now

Will the draft ever move back to mid-June?
Mark P
12:16
There seems to be pretty close to unanimous feeling within front offices that they would prefer the draft not be in July, so this feels like it might be a short-lived experiment
12:17
Just based on the dynamics of how the sports work, the MLB draft will simply never have anywhere near the cache of the NFL or NBA drafts.  Having the MLB draft during the All-Star break isn't going to change that

How Long will the Redsox put up with JBJ's .190 BA? And who will replace him?
Mark P
12:19
The Sox are counting on Bradley's glove more than his bat, and don't forget, Bradley had some good hitting years in Boston.  I'm sure the Sox staff thinks they can get him on track at the plate

What's the best website to use when wanting to look at split stats? What are some other good options other than the best ?
Mark P

Baseball Reference and Fangraphs are my go-tos

Do you think the ship has sailed on a Bryan Reynolds  extension?
Mark P
12:21
Until we actually see the Pirates make a big investment in a player, I'll continue to assume that Reynolds will eventually be traded.

12:22
Thanks for doing these chats! Any chance the cardinals are still in on trading for a SP? I know they have depth, but with flaherty hurt, do you think they try and make a move by opening day?
Mark P
12:24
Brooks and VerHagen are both swingmen, so they can provide depth until the Cards figure out their pitching situation, or maybe just until Flaherty and Reyes are ready.  In terms of newer additions, it's possible, but I doubt it'd be anyone high-profile....maybe lower-level minor league signings

Does the Conforto fiasco damage Scott Boras' genius reputation?
Mark P
12:24
Given how Boras clients have made hundreds of millions of dollars this winter alone, nope
Mark P
12:25
Any chance MLB changes Field of Dreams game since Reds Cubs are both rebuilding?
Mark P
12:26
Probably not, for logistical reasons.  Besides, the appeal of the FOD game is mostly nostalgia and novelty, though obviously it didn't hurt last year that the ChiSox and Yankees were good teams
Buster Bluth
12:26
Any chance that Conforto waits til after the draft to sign?  Would the Red Sox give up a pick now for him to play RF?
Mark P
12:27
I really doubt Conforto sits out two-thirds of the season just to avoid the QO draft pick label.
