But in all seriousness, Adell was a top-five, top-10 level prospect.  Even as high as #1 or #2 in some rankings.  It shouldn't surprise anyone if things are starting to click for him.  Spring Training stats should always be taken with a grain of salt, naturally

Think the Mariners rotation is set? Is it strong enough to overtake the Astros?
Mark P
1:05
They could use another veteran arm in there.  I suspect the A's would want even more of a premium for an in-division trade, but Manaea or Montas would look great in Seattle

is degrom a first ballot hof?
Mark P
1:07
DeGrom is one of the more interesting HOF candidates around.  Naturally he needs two more seasons just to hit the 10-year threshold, but if he continues to pitch to his usual form (and stays healthy) throughout, I don't really see the argument for keeping him out of Cooperstown
1:08
Maybe not first ballot, but that's a discussion for further down the road when deGrom's career is nearer to the end
Red Sox
1:08
Do you really see the X-Man leaving? I am having a hard time believing/accepting that
Mark P
1:09
I'd be pretty surprised at this point to see Bogaerts stay in Boston.  Either Story will take over at shortstop or (here's a real galaxy-brain idea), the Sox will sign Correa or someone next year if they prefer Story at 2B.

is there any scenario where this isnt xanders last season in boston?
Mark P
1:11
If he gets badly injured or has a terrible season, he won't opt out.  But, that creates a different problem for the Sox
Killebrew
1:12
would the Twins send Jose Miranda to Oakland for Sean Manaea?
Mark P
1:13
For one year of Manaea?  Probably not
Houston we have a problem !
1:13
With the departure of Correa, Graveman, and reliance on an aging Verlander, do you think Houston misses the playoffs?
Mark P
1:14
I still like their chances.  The A's got worse, and I don't know if the other teams did enough to entirely close the gap with Houston.
Al Kaline Battery
1:15
Who's more likely to opt out after the season, Correa or Baez, and if one does, does it affects the others decision to test the market?
Mark P
1:15
Baez's opt-out isn't until after 2023
Contract talk
1:16
If a team renegotiates a contract extension can a team tear up the existing contract if it has years left?
Mark P
1:16
They can, yes.
Weis
1:17
Do you think Guerrero and/or Bichette extend with toronto before free agency?
Mark P
1:18
They'll extend at least one, yes.  It will be interesting if it ends up being "only" one, and which player they choose to lock up

give me a couple AL prospects that nobody is talking about that will have a impact not named, Witt / Torkelson / Greene etc
Mark P
1:20
Steven Kwan might end up getting a lot of playing time for the Guardians.  Interesting hitter who's always been an average/OBP guy, and the power has started to emerge over the last couple of years

Are arbitration meetings going to take place during the season? Yikes
Mark P
1:22
That has some potential for some real awkwardness.  It'll add a lot of drama to the race for this year's Front Office Championship Belt!
League of Their Own

FYI The Rockford Peaches stadium is no longer a stadium- just a park.
Mark P
1:24
For the purposes of a one-off special game, they could build a temporary ballpark as they did in Iowa for the FOD game
AL

Whats the order of the top 6 teams in the east?
Mark P
1:25
Man, are the Orioles so bad they're going to finish behind a fifth team that doesn't even exist?

At the moment, I'd predict Tampa, Toronto, Boston, New York, Baltimore.  Really, you could tell me just about any order for the top four and I'd believe it.

Who will win / should win best picture tonight?
Mark P

I am so vastly behind on my movie-watching that I've only see three of the nominees.  Based on the ones I've seen, Licorice Pizza > Power Of The Dog and Don't Look Up.

Wade seems like a better fit there than Fletcher. Why do you think he would have the edge when he’s average at best but GG caliber at 2B?
Mark P
1:31
I guess the Angels are counting on Matt Duffy to play a lot of 2B, so that leaves shortstop for Fletcher.  I'm not crazy about the LAA middle infield as a whole, seems like an area that needed more of an upgrade
