Your walkup song today is.......

"I Need Some Fine Wine, And You, You Need To Be Nicer" by the Cardigans

If the player (Judge) is going to opine about how bad he wants to be a part of the team, I think it is fair game for the front office(Cashman) to go public with an offer like that
Mark P
10:44
Like I said, usually you see these numbers leaked to the media anyway, so I guess you can give Cashman some credit for some transparency.
10:45
To promote a post that is almost two years old now, I wrote a piece for MLBTR in 2020 noting that the Yankees (by team policy) almost never give out extensions.  Even for stars like Judge.

Is a future infield of Devers Srory Bogaerts and Mayer possible?
Mark P
10:47
Only if Mayer is somehow promoted this season, since I suspect Bogaerts is elsewhere in 2023

Would you say the Orioles are a top 5 option for Correa if he decides to opt out?
Mark P
10:51
We have yet to get any indication that the Orioles are ready to end their rebuild.  If Rutschman debuts and looks good, maybe they'll start to pivot next winter....but pivoting to the extent of suddenly signing Correa to a $300MM contract seems bold

While I thought opening day was a cool moment for STL and Pujols, how long will nostalgia carry them if he's hitting .200 in June with Juan Yepez crushing AAA
Mark P
10:53
I would like to think Pujols knows that his best possible ending is another ring, so if putting a better player into the lineup helps the Cardinals wins, Pujols will (or should?) take a bench role

Have any teams changed your assessments of them already?
Mark P

Nope.  It's been three days!

Do you see Wil Myers being traded by the trade deadline
Mark P
10:55
Like I said earlier about Hosmer, the Padres are also likely constantly on the lookout for Myers trades.  I'm sure Hosmer is their top preference to move, but if they determine that he simply can't be dealt in any kind of reasonable way, moving Myers is the plan B

Who you taking to sign Trea Turner? Dodgers or the field?
Mark P
10:57
I lean towards the field.  The Dodgers can pursue one of the other FA shortstops or make a trade if they want to make a splash at shortstop, giving them some leverage
Bobby Cox
10:58
We get a Fried or Dansby deal done this season?
Mark P
10:59
I would imagine a Fried extension is the bigger priority, as due to that some shortstop market I just mentioned, Atlanta might feel there's some flexibility to let Swanson at least test the market
11:00
This doesn't mean I think the Braves will spend big for Bogaerts or Correa, but they're always open to making a trade.
11:01
We've hit two hours, so time to call it a night.  Thanks for all the questions!
