If a team releases a player, they've cut ties entirely

If a team DFAs a player, there's a ten-day period where other teams can put in a claim for the player, and the initial club can then either let the player go for nothing, or a trade is worked out.  If the player clears DFA waivers, the club can then outright the player off its 40-man roster and assign him to the minors (unless the player qualifies to reject an outright assignment and opt for free agency)

Rockies are going nowhere. German Marquez is having an off year, but is otherwise solid. Mets should try to swing a trade for him. Thoughts?

The Rockies have already said they're not moving Marquez, and that was when the team was really struggling.  With a respectable record at this point, the Rox probably think they're making a playoff run

Bellinger is hitting around league average, so that's at least a step up from 2021.  But if he doesn't turn things around in a major way, it does seem more realistic that L.A. could just cut ties entirely.  

Surely the front office has already explored this route, but I do wonder if Bellinger could be dealt to a team that thinks they can fix him --- perhaps in exchange for another larger contract
