What would your walkup song be if you were a hitter, or your entrance song be if you were a closer?
Mark P
10:22
As always, my answer is based on the song that's playing on my iTunes at this exact moment, and that's "Free" by Florence & The Machine
Show me the Greene
10:23
Who ends the season with a better season, Spencer Torkelson or Riley Greene?
Mark P
10:24
My guess is Torkelson, since who knows what to expect from Greene after a lengthy layoff and the fact that he'll be facing MLB pitchers for the first time.  It seems like Torkelson is starting to heat up a bit.

How much has Bryan Reynolds negatively impacted his trade value with his slow start?
Mark P
10:27
Hasn't cratered it by any extent, but it's certainly taken a hit.  Reynolds hasn't been really unlucky or anything, as per the advanced metrics...he just hasn't been very good.  Seems like teams are shifting all the time against him now, and he has yet to really adjust
Wheeler
10:28
If the Phillies are out of contention by the trade deadline, is Wheeler a potential piece they would be willing to move if MLB ready pitching was part of the return package?
Mark P
10:30
They're only moving Wheeler if they turn to "blow it up" mode, which the Phillies aren't prepared to do.

If they do sell at the deadline, it'll be free agents (i.e. Gibson) or maybe a Hoskins who has an escalating arb price tag, but not a cornerstone piece like Wheeler

Orlando if Angels move because would still be in Orange County and by other Disney World?
Mark P
10:32
Stu Sternberg buys the team, renames them the Orange County Angels, and tries his old split-city concept again

If not for Trout and Judge, Jose Ramirez would be the favorite for the MVP???
Mark P
10:33
The MVP is sometimes as much about narrative as it is about numbers, and the "hey, Jose Ramirez is awesome, we should recognize that" might compel some voters who aren't as wowed by "look at Trout, awesome again after an injury-filled year," or "is Judge literally going to homer every time at the plate?"
A's trades
10:34
What position do the A's target next?
Mark P
10:35
This is a tough question since the rebuilding/reloading A's might just be looking to add the best talent available, regardless of any specific position.
In general, pitching is always the answer?
Yo
10:38
Will we see a big name traded or a big market team make a trade in June?
Mark P
10:38
I say yes, at least one
Pitching poor

Wheeler for Gore. Who says no?
Mark P
10:40
Philadelphia.

"Wheeler for Gore" also works as a trade if you're in a fantasy league of U.S. vice-presidents

Josh Smith?
Mark P
10:41
Seems like an interesting prospect, and a nice pickup for Texas
Taylor Ward
10:42
I’m a perfect example of why the Angels shouldn’t give up on Adell yet. Some Angels fans wanted me gone after my rookie year. I was given time to work on my hitting. Now I’m the biggest surprise in baseball this season.
Mark P
10:43
As someone who wondered why Ward was being given playing time over Adell and Marsh at the start of the season, I'm also guilty of writing Ward off too soon.  Now, do I think he'll keep up Trout-esque numbers all year?  No, but he certainly looks like a productive player

How about those NY Rangers?! Can they beat the Lightning?
Mark P
10:44
By the unfailing logic of counting on the hockey gods to laugh at the Maple Leafs, Tampa is winning the Stanley Cup
Michael
10:45
Do you see more teams cutting bait regardless of salary owed like the angels did with upton and the w sox with Dallas?  Seems the $ part is not as important today as getting someone who can produce on the field
Mark P
10:46
Probably, though it isn't uncommon for teams to finally drop a guy once they're the last year of a contract.
Uncle Steve
10:47
so come deadline time, shouldn’t I try to eat contracts for specific pitchers/relievers rather than trade any prospects? Is there even any targets that would fit the bill?
Mark P
10:48
If Cohen really doesn't care about how much he exceeds the top luxury tax level, this is a viable strategy.  Especially if he targets players we just mentioned....guys in the last years of their contracts, so the Mets can quickly get them off the books after the season
Vazquez
10:51
Sox going to sign me or should I find a realtor?
Mark P
10:52
If the Sox think Ronaldo Hernandez can be a viable MLB catcher by next season, I think they'll let Vazquez walk.
Aaron
10:54
Did you see the documentary “Knuckleball”? I thought it was good. It was probably a bit slower than “Fastball” and harder to predict where it was going.
Mark P
10:54
Both films were much better than "Changeup," which was apparently a documentary about Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman trying to ruin their careers
Lou
10:56
does Alex Faedo have a bright future?
Mark P
10:57
I think so, if perhaps as a reliever eventually rather than a starter.  But, until he actually struggles enough to merit a move to the bullpen, Faedo looks like he can hold his own in the rotation.
Chris

is Acuna starting to feel like Buxton a little bit? Huge potential, injury prone.
Mark P
11:00
Acuna's recent health history isn't great, but he'd have to go a long way to catch up with Buxton on the injury front.

The key is just to avoid those major injuries like the torn ACL.  Acuna can miss a few games here or there with minor aches and pains, but that's not a big issue in the long run.

you think the Pujols experiment should end?  Seems to be in the line up way more than he should, and he’s not producing.
Mark P
11:03
Pujols has actually been an above-average offensive player this year, as per OPS+ and wRC+.  This speaks more to the season's depressed offensive numbers than it does to any great surge on Pujols' part, but still, he isn't hurting the Cardinals at the plate.

When O'Neill and Carlson get healthy, there will likely be some reduction in playing time.  But until Pujols starts severely leveling off, it isn't an issue
