Does Victor Robles make sense for the Marlins if they can't land Reynolds or Mullins? I know the bat is terrible, but at least they'd have some really good CF defense behind that great pitching.

Robles makes sense as a backup plan, sure.  He would also cost much less in a trade than the other two guys....if the Marlins would even need to trade for him at all, in the event of a non-tender

Phils should be talking to Royals about Michael A & Benitendi. Won't replace Harper but would upgrade defense.  What do you think it would take?

Taylor/Benintendi would be a really interesting move for the Phillies.  Figuring out a trade package could be tricky, especially since the Royals are also surely planning to contend by 2023.

If Cleveland considers themselves contenders…they need another starter and back of the the pen arm. Surprisingly, the outfield is set, infield has 1 to many and maybe 2 at dh.

I wouldn't consider the lineup set just yet.  The Guards are counting on a lot of guys without much/any of a MLB track record, so getting a proven veteran in there would add some comfort.

Mark, do you think it's likely Friedman picks up the club options for Justin Turner and Max Muncy this offseason?

It's a $13MM club option on Muncy ($1.5MM buyout) and as mentioned earlier, $16MM for Turner with a $2MM buyout.

At this point, I find it hard to believe L.A. picks up either.  Like I said before, Turner's option is maybe declined and he rejoins the team at a lower salary, just because he's become such a Dodger staple.  Muncy is a trickier situation since he might still eventually end up requiring elbow surgery.

The Dodgers have a ton of money coming off the books even without Turner and Muncy, so L.A. has a lot of flexibility in filling those holes.  Maybe they try to stay under the luxury tax line to reset their tax penalty, or perhaps use the freed-up money to re-sign Trea Turner, and/or Kershaw

You'd think it would be hard for a guy at his age to return in top form from Tommy John surgery.....but that's why Verlander is an all-time great

What would Sandy Alcantara bring in a trade? More than Juan Soto?

Since Alcantara is locked up through at least the 2026 season, I think his trade ask would be at least somewhat comparable, even considering Soto's all-timer status.  

But that said, there is zero chance Miami moves Alcantara

I totally get advanced analytics and am an advocate of it. But how in the heck does Edman have a higher WAR than Trout and Judge?

Keep in mind that there is more than one way to calculate WAR.  Baseball Reference has Edman ahead of everyone in baseball, but by Fangraphs' measure, Edman is merely eighth in WAR (and Machado leads the way)
