Judging by the comments in these chats, it's the White Sox by a solid margin, with Angels fans coming in a respectable second

Is a team like the Texas rangers buyers, sellers, or non participants at the deadline this year?
Mark P
10:36
I think they'll be buying and selling.  Obviously Texas is still in the hunt for a wild card at this point, and they'll be looking at longer-term additions as well for a bigger push to contend in 2023.
That said, moving a pending free agent or two also isn't out of the question.

Is there any market for Straw and Reyes from Guards?
Mark P
10:39
Sure, but Straw's defense and speed are so impressive that Cleveland won't want to move him.

The Guardians would be selling low on Reyes, so I doubt they'd move him out of fear he'd suddenly break out into a 35-homer guy on another roster

yankees want an outfielder and M’s have plenty. What’s it gonna take for a deal to happen?
Mark P
10:42
Do they have plenty?  Haniger is the only realistic trade piece the Yankees might want, and he's still hurt.  Winker could be deadly in Yankee Stadium, but I don't see the Mariners moving on from him.

Buster says several league higher ups predict the Cardinals as the landing spot for Montas. Say that's true, would the Cards HAVE to give up Walker or would a mix of Burleson/Winn/Baez/McGreevy do the job?
Mark P
10:45
Technically, he said that some execs view STL as the favorite for Montas, but maybe that's splitting hairs.

Using the familiar comp of "the A's will look to match or exceed what the Twins got for Berrios," that would seemingly imply Walker and then someone like Winn or McGreevy.  Of course, the A's may have different preferences based on their evaluations of the Cardinals' farm system.
10:46
It's possible a non-Walker package could get the A's to move Montas in a vacuum....but another team could certainly be able to top that offer

Does Apple TV need a Insider for its Studio coverage.
Mark P
10:47
Ted Lasso it is
Team Kaptain
10:50
Best thing going for the Reds?
Mark P
10:51
Tyler Stephenson is the real deal.  Joey Votto is cool.  Jonathan India is having a sophomore nightmare of a year, but he's definitely a player I'd be excited to have over the long term.  Kyle Farmer as a regular shortstop has worked out quite well.  Hunter Greene has loads of potential.  It's a really nice ballpark.  "WKRP In Cincinnati" was a good show.

Blackmon to Phils to play CF?
Mark P
10:54
Blackmon was a defensive liability in CF, and hasn't played the position in four years.  Plus, he is said to not want to waive his no-trade clause, and the Rox probably wouldn't move him anyway
Bill
10:55
Has any body else noticed that the Angels current horrible streak started the very day that their deal to buy their stadium blew up?  Also, why not move Taylor Ward back to third, where he played before Rendon was signed, and bring up Adel to play right field?
Mark P
10:55
Ward can play third base in a pinch, but there's a reason he was moved to the outfield beyond just Rendon.  An ill-advised position switch could also impact Ward's bat.

In the offseason, the Rays were said to covet Montas. Now, no signs of interest. What gives? I really want a Montas for Taj Bradley/Seth Johnson swap.
Mark P
10:57
The Rays' starting pitching is the least of their concerns, so they might have moved on.  (Though again, obligatory "you can never have too much starting pitching" mention)
never on sunday
10:58
Will the Yankees trade Chapman?
Mark P
10:58
Interesting idea, but he has a no-trade clause
10:59
Though the Yankees could try to move him to another contender who would let him close
Bryan
11:00
Thanks! Personally, I don't think it's in the Cards "MO" to give up that much for Montas and would look at a Martin Perez type instead. No need to answer this one, just hope ya see it. Appreciate y'all doing these!
Mark P
11:01
Oh, I'll certainly answer praise!  The gratitude is most welcome, thanks!

And, you may be right on the Cardinals/Montas thing.  The Cards usually don't swing blockbusters, i.e. last year when they brought in some low-cost veteran starters and things went smoothly
Johnny

It is a nightmare to see hicks and gallo play on the same day and even in the same lineup.
if the yanks were to go and get an outfielder who and what would the return be?
Mark P
11:03
Watching a 58-21 team with two struggling players is a "worst nightmare?"

This is like Dwight Schrute's greatest fantasy being co-owning a bed and breakfast with the devil.
Eric
11:04
Should Jed Hoyer be on the hot seat in Chicago?
Mark P
11:05
Less than two years into being hired?  And after overseeing a long-awaited roster selloff?
In short, no, Hoyer isn't in any danger.
Joe
11:06
What do you make of Nick Castellanos struggles this year in Philadelphia and do you think he will ever start hitting like in did last year in Cincinnati?
Mark P
11:08
I really think Castellanos having to play almost every single day in the outfield is hampering him.  Now, obviously, Castellanos was a regular outfielder with the Reds since the universal DH wasn't around, but there might have still be an adjustment to make in a season where Castellanos went into it thinking/expecting to get more regular breaks.
