It seems like the Yankees' usage of Carpenter is working perfectly, so why fix what isn't broken?

How much does top 100 placement matter? Like is the 50th best prospect closer to the 100th best prospect or the 1st in terms of expectations and talent level.
Mark P
10:48
They're all subjective.  Apart from the very top-level prospect (and sometimes not even then), there's a lot of flux in a top 50-100 range, or even top 50-200.  A guy could catch fire for two months and suddenly get himself onto the top 100 radar, or something.

Plus, teams all have their own internal "top 100" or whatever the lists.  And those all differ from club to club, just as MLB Pipeline's ranking differs from Keith Law or Baseball America or Baseball Prospectus, etc.

Soto night before you give up the future of your franchise realize he might not be the ind of player that can handle the”big” ny, la Boston spotlight
Mark P
10:49
It's possible, except.....Soto has already thrived in the spotlight of the World Series, and won a ring.

the reds should get a major haul back over the next two weeks right?
Mark P

Castillo is a prime trade chip, and if Mahle looks good and healthy in his slated two starts before the deadline, he can also score a nice return.  Between those two and Drury, the Reds can restock the system with some quality players

The celebrity all star game is the worst one yet!! Who are half these people and why do they seem like the worst people ever??

I'm just upset I wasn't invited.  Come on, I had an unassisted triple play in eighth grade softball!  Did Bad Bunny ever do that?!

What prospects do you remember that were relatively unheralded and gave  a resounding meh when traded but became a legit star.  For example Corey Kluber being involved in the Ryan Ludwick trade back in 2010

As a Jays fan, I'm pretty pleased that the no-name prospect they got from Steve Pearce in 2018 went onto become Santiago Espinal.

Is there any chance we sign Ohtani to an extension?
Mark P
10:57
Sure, if they're willing to hand out a $400MM contract.
Bader
10:57
Does stl try to move Bader before the deadline for pitching help?
Mark P
10:58
Given that Bader is injured (and with a nagging injury like plantar fasciitis), I think his trade value is pretty negligible
10:59
We're at the two-hour mark, so it's time to wrap up this chat.  Thanks for all the questions, and we'll be back next weekend with even more trade queries as we get closer to the deadline
