Just because they didn't make an extension offer before the season doesn't mean they haven't touched base with Turner's reps about a new deal since, and perhaps there simply haven't been any public reports about those talks.  Now, I don't expect Turner to sign an extension so close to free agency, but I'd be surprised if the Dodgers didn't have some idea about what he is expecting in a new contract
Tremma

Who says no? Diego Cartaya, Andy Pages, Eddys Leonard, Phil Bickford, Ryan Pelion, and Gavin Stone for Shohei Ohtani and Jo Adell.
Mark P
11:37
The Angels, since the Dodgers are the last team they'd move Ohtani (and Adell) to
Battlin' 'Backs
11:39
The DBacks are 24-16 in their last 40 games, on the back of an impressive crop of rookie position players (McCarthy, Thomas, Carroll, Garrett, Rivera, and Perdomo) and back-to-back NL Pitchers of the Month (Kelly and Gallen).
Mark P
11:40
Quietly a nice run for the D'Backs as of late, and it has to be their best stretch of baseball in the last three seasons.  Getting to .500 isn't out of the question, which would be a nice benchmark and sign of progress.
Wild Card
11:42
Does the WC team have an advantage due to playing every day rather than taking a good 4 day break? Sure the rotation gets lined up…but that’s a large break
Mark P
11:43
It's a possibility, since momentum can carry forward from a team that wins a thrilling wild-card series or something

Is Mattingly out in Miami after this season? Who else can you see being shown the door?
Mark P
11:43
My guess is that Mattingly isn't retained, and the Marlins also overhaul the coaching staff under a new manager.

Jays going to spend big again this off-season?
Mark P
11:47
The Jays have a big arbitration class with a lot of big raises baked in (including Vlad, Bichette, Romano, Teoscar) so that'll take up a good chunk of spending right there.  I suspect Toronto will look at addressing needs by moving some of these salaries.....Hernandez and Gurriel, for instance, are only under contract through 2023, so one could be traded for pitching help.

Do you watch an MLB game every day?
Mark P
11:49
Not every single day during the season, but pretty close to it

Lourdes Gurriel jr for Pablo Lopez. Who hangs up?
Mark P
11:52
Lopez is controlled through 2024 and Gurriel's contract is up after 2023, so Miami wouldn't want a straight one-for-one deal.  The Jays have long had interest in Marlins pitching, however, and it wouldn't be a shock to see Toronto finally land a bigger-ticket arm from Miami
After already dealing for Cimber, Pop, Bass in other trades with the Marlins in recent years

Would you ever see a situation where jeter becomes the manager of the Yankees to get them back to winning ways?. Also I see more home grown talent being traded this off-season if Yankees don’t make the goal as prospect hugging has not worked out now for quite some time how do you feel about both those things?
Mark P
11:56
There is about a zero percent chance that Jeter signs up for the day-to-day grind of managing.

The Yankees have been willing to move some prospects in trades, apart from their top-tier guys.  This is a logical strategy and one that I agree with, but one thing I've found puzzling is how they keep hanging onto ex-top prospects (i.e. Andujar, Florial, Frazier) when it's clear that the Yankees no longer view those guys as major pieces.  Nobody wants to sell low, obviously, but stringing a player along for years doesn't seem to be helping anyone.

Do you see any expansion or franchise shifts in the next few years?
Mark P
11:58
No.  Expansion won't happen until at least after the next CBA expires.  As for teams moving, the most likely candidates are still locked into stadium leases for a few years yet.

The A's are closest since their lease is up at the end of 2024 (I believe without any extension clauses), but as I said before, there is tentative momentum towards a new deal being struck on an Oakland ballpark

How much love will receive Joey Meneses for ROY if he continues batting like he is doing?
Mark P
12:00
Maybe a few stray votes but obviously not enough to overtake the likes of Harris or Strider.  Meneses' hot streak has been a fun story, however.

What happened to Nick Anderson??

Do you agree with others that Arte was a detriment to the Angels for a lot of the signings he made despite his baseball people saying no?
Mark P
12:02
On the plus side, Moreno clearly wanted nothing more than to see the Angels win.  However, it seems like he tried to make this happen in absolutely the wrong way, and never trusted his front office to make the baseball decisions themselves.

Give us your early list of candidates to manage the Angels in 2023. Thanks for the chat!
Mark P
12:08
Here's another situation where the pending sale will impact team operations.  Hiring a new manager to a multi-year contract could be tricky if a new owner takes over and wants to clean house.

I believe it was Ken Rosenthal who recently suggested that the Angels might just keep Nevin as manager, as sort of a placeholder for just this scenario.  That would still be a tough situation for Nevin, but a lot about the Angels is up in the air right now

Dave Parker going into Pirates HOF today.  Should he also be in Cooperstown?
Mark P
12:10
The Cobra is one of those guys who falls just short of my personal HOF bar, though he had a terrific and underrated career.  Put it this way...Parker is close enough to my Cooperstown threshold that I wouldn't be upset if he eventually did get in, though there is a long list of more deserving candidates I feel a veterans committee should induct first

Corbin Burnes a possible candidate to be traded to charm city this winter?
Mark P
12:14
Burnes is arb-controlled through 2024, and he'll get a nice raise from his $6.5MM current salary.  As expensive as he's getting, I don't think he's quite at the level where the Brewers would want to move him.  Of the two, Woodruff is probably more apt to be dealt since he's older than Burnes, though I suspect Milwaukee likely keeps both
12:15
Remember, Hader's salary ($11MM) was substantially higher than either Burnes or Woodruff, and a closer has less overall value than a top-flight starting pitcher.  Just because the Brew Crew moved Hader doesn't necessarily mean they're going to start drastically cutting payroll or looking to reshuffle the roster.

What do you think the most interesting opt-out decision is this offseason, either player or club?
Mark P

Correa's is pretty interesting, as I think there is at least some chance he passes on opting out and remains in Minnesota for another year
