Dr. Strange might have a harder time finding that reality than the one where the heroes defeated Thanos

Who would be your choice for Cardinals catcher if your in charge in St. Louis?
Mark P
8:30
I would trade for Murphy.  I think he has a lot of upside, and could blossom with a team like St. Louis.

If the Orioles are looking for pitching and the Dodgers need a CF, do you think a Cedric Mullens for Julio Urias would make sense for both teams?
Mark P
8:32
I don't see LA trading Urias.  There's a better chance they extend him rather than look to move him
Coach Chad
8:32
Billy Beane a HOF’r ?
Mark P
8:33
The lack of a WS title will probably hurt his chances, and some of the old-time voters on a veterans committee might (wrongly) blame Beane for the analytics era.

But still, Beane can at least take solace in the fact that he had a movie made about him. Not many GMs can say that.

Is there a scenario where the Mariners move France to 2nd and roll with white or sign abreu?
Mark P
8:35
I don't think the M's see France as an everyday type of second baseman

8:35
why does Camden yards get over looked for the allstar game every year?
Mark P
8:36
MLB tends to give the All-Star Game to newer stadiums, in some cases as a way to reward cities for providing the public money to build said stadiums.  Camden is still beloved, and it'll probably get another nod sooner rather than later.

....and Cito Gaston still won't call Mussina in to pitch

What would it take to trade for Victor Robles? Giants need a CF
Mark P
8:37
Probably not a ton, but the Giants would preferably want a bigger bat in the outfield.

Seattle gonna bite on glyber or still have bad taste from cano?? And is trading glyber the right thing??
Mark P
8:39
The Cano deal ended up working out pretty well for Seattle, all things considered.

Torres is still kind of a mixed bag offensively, and I'm not sure I'd love the risk of him moving from Yankee Stadium to a more pitcher-friendly park.  I can understand why the Mariners had interest or talked to the Yankees about him, but he wouldn't necessarily be at the top of my list of targets if I was Jerry Dipoto
Robin Yount
8:40
Will the Brewers deal Burnes soon? Or keep him and Woodruff and add a bat?
Mark P
8:41
While I do think the Brewers will eventually trade at least one of those two pitchers, it might not necessarily happen this winter.  There's probably a better chance the Brewers keep both and try to win again in 2023, and then explore a trade next winter

What are the chances the Marlins swing a deal with the Cubs for Lopez. Cubs sending Madrigal and a good prospect.
Mark P
8:43
Miami would want more than that

When do Red Sox fans have enough with Bloom ... after Boegarts leaves or after Devers does?
Mark P
8:44
Gauging by the comments in these chats, Boston fans had enough of Bloom by around May or June of 2022

What's been going on with Toronto in the pitching market? Do we stick it out with one of Kikuchi/white or make competitive offers for top FAs/trade with Cleveland, Miami etc
Mark P
8:45
They'll definitely add at least one more pitcher.  Counting on even one of White or Kikuchi for a rotation spot seems troubling, so the Jays could realistically land two
Neale
8:47
What would the haul for Devers look like?
Mark P
8:49
If the Sox did shop him, they could get one good top-100 prospect in return, and probably one other MLB-ready piece.

Devers is only under contract through 2023, so that limits his value.  But, he has already proven himself to be a difference-maker type of player, and I think a team in win-now mode would make that kind of deal.  That said, it would probably be a win-now team that also had a fair amount of prospect depth, so they'd feel more comfortable about moving a quality youngster what might be one year of Devers

Most likely odd free agent signing?
Mark P
8:51
I think the Rays are going to make a surprising (for them) signing, spending some legit money to land a quality free agent
Pick me!!! Pick me!!!

8:53
Do you see trader Jerry actually signing a big-name free agent?
Mark P
8:53
They were willing to sign Robbie Ray last year, so the M's aren't ignoring the big-ticket FA market entirely.  Knowing Dipoto, his preference will be to exhaust trade possibilities first, but the Mariners are clearly open to spending

8:54
If Tampa and St L can develop players consistently why don't other teams mimic?
Mark P
8:55
Given how teams are constantly hiring Rays personnel, there's plenty of copycat action happening.  But, needless to say, it's hard to do

Did I miss something? I don’t follow the Giants much, but is there merit to them being in the SS race? Is Crawford out then?
Mark P
8:56
Crawford's down year makes him a question mark heading into 2023, so the one remaining season on Crawford's contract won't stand in the way of the Giants making a big move for a SS they like
Probably ideally, they'd like a shortstop who can maybe play another position to accommodate Crawford for a year

Hey Mark, Dipoto is not the Ms gm anymore but does Justin Hollander have to get his approval for any moves? Seems like recent moves still have Dipoto finger prints all over it
Mark P
8:57
Dipoto is still making all the big baseball-related decisions. Hollander the GM is handling the day-to-day stuff and is Dipoto's chief lieutenant
John Middleton would like a word
8:58
Naturally, it usually isn't great for negotiating purposes for a GM to openly say we've got a ton to spend and we're eager to hand it out
Mark P
