As of a little over a week ago, the Yankees still had interest in Taillon

What will the Giants do if they don’t get Judge ?? They have tons of holes
Mark P
10:02
If they miss on Judge, the Giants can fill a lot of those holes by re-allocating the $350MM or whatever they had earmarked into multiple players

It seems that a lot of what has been coming out on Correa recently is that the Twins have a good chance to resign him. Yet local media is reporting that the Twins certainly will not be the team to offer the most money (not really surprising at all), so I’m not sure how much hope I should reasonably have that he resigns.
Mark P
10:04
Seems like the Twins' variety of offers are a way to at least get into the ballpark of Correa's market.  If the other shortstops sign elsewhere, and other shortstop vacancies close up, the Twins might feel they can take advantage of market conditions for the second straight year

Do you think Scott Harris will trade some pitchers to find a quality third baseman ??????
Mark P
10:06
(Scott Harris = Tigers president of baseball ops)

Detroit is reportedly getting a lot of hits on their relievers, so if the Tigers can turn a bullpen arm into a regular 3B, that's a nice return

Any chance that Bellinger would get a multi-year contract?
Mark P
10:08
Boras has already said that Bellinger's plan is to take a one-year contract, so a rebound year can put him in line for a bigger multi-year deal next offseason.

If a team offered a real big salary for two years, I'm sure Bellinger and Boras would consider it.  But, what team would make such a sizeable commitment to a guy with Bellinger's recent struggles?
Mr Upton
10:09
Dombrowski connection gonna get me to come to NL Pennant winners?
Mark P
10:09
Ha, this one took me a second, since I was thinking "why would Justin Upton be a priority for the Phillies?"

But Verlander would indeed make a lot of sense for Philly.

Please answer my question so my kid goes to bed. He wants to know which SS the Phillies sign
Mark P
10:10
Feels like one of Turner or Bogaerts are the favorites to end up in Philly
Poll
10:10
Who gets elected into the MLB HOF tomorrow? McGriff , Bonds, etc….
Mark P
10:12
I think McGriff is getting in.  He's the consensus "no baggage" pick, he's a better player than Mattingly or Murphy, and he has past ties to four (Maddux, Chipper, Kenny Williams, Paul Beeston) of the 16 people on the veterans committee.

But, McGriff is the only one that seems like a good bet to me.  There's too much controversy still surrounding Schilling and the PED crew, that I don't think any of them get the necessary 12 votes
Jays fan
10:12
Do the Jays and pirates match up on a Reynolds trade? Pirates already have a catcher prospect.
Mark P
10:13
Henry Davis' presence would seemingly make a trade with the Jays less likely, you're right.  Toronto could still make something happen if they offered Tiedemann but I think he's basically untouchable

10:16
please tell me Kyle Gibson isn’t the only move the orioles make. Seems like they aren’t gonna spend the money many thought they would
Mark P
10:17
Gibson certainly won't be their last acquisition, and likely not even their last pitching acquisition.

Should I be looking to hire a Philadelphia area real estate agent?
Mark P
10:17
Just as long as it isn't Vic Vinegar or Hugh Honey

Should I be checking out La Jolla properties for my client or are the Padres just bidding up other potential suitors?
Mark P
10:18
Just as long as it isn't....uh, who are some San Diego real estate agents from pop culture?
Marty
10:18
Other than the Bogaerts/Devers dilemma, what do you picture the Red Sox doing for a "splash" but realistic move?
Mark P
10:19
I think they're legitimate contenders to land Sean Murphy, which would be a really nice move for the Sox.
Marlins pitchers
10:20
Trevor Rogers for Alek THomas?
Mark P
10:20
Not a one-for-one deal, but this would provide an interesting framework for a trade
Raymond
10:21
If Tampa is out of it at the break, Glasnow is gone right with that huge 2024 salary, assuming he's healthy?
Mark P
10:22
I don't think the Rays will fall out of contention, but if they did, sure Glasnow would definitely be a trade candidate.  Obviously the Rays have big plans for Glasnow or else they wouldn't have signed that surprising extension in the first place, but those plans could change if the team really struggled
Scott
10:23
Red Sox really aren't active in the starting pitcher market huh? Zero interest in paying for Rodon? Nothing on the trade front? Didn't they learn from last season?
Mark P
10:24
They were reportedly right in on Eflin, but the Rays matched Boston's offer (and, Tampa had a hometown advantage and a state-tax advantage)
El Chupacabra
10:24
Now that the Royals have rounded out their coaching on the pitching side, are they more - or less - attractive as an option for free agent pitchers?
Mark P
10:26
It might take a season for this to really materialize, since if the Royals' pitching improves in 2023 and word spreads that the coaching staff is doing a good job, that could be something of a tiebreaker for free agents weighing offers
Saturday Night Bobby
10:26
Mark, do you think it's possible MIL saying they're holding onto their core just conjecture on their part?
Mark P
10:27
If another team made them a blow-away offer for Burnes, the Brewers would take it.  But barring such an offer that couldn't be refused, I don't doubt that the Brewers are planning to reload and try again in 2023
Cohen
10:29
Do Mets fans view it as a flop if I don't get at least 2 if Verlander, Senga, Rodon?
Mark P
10:29
Signing "only" one of those three guys and then another second-tier type of pitcher (i.e. Heaney or someone) would go over pretty well, I feel
10:30
Even among the notoriously hard-to-please NY fanbase
Davey
10:30
Tampa probably trades Brandon Lowe right? He’s getting expensive and they have younger options ready
Mark P
10:31
Yeah, a Lowe trade makes an awful lot of sense.  The Rays would be selling low(e) on him, but he'd still bring back something useful in a trade
