Haven't thought about that, but I guess we need to consider him, too. Man this next trade ranking list is going to be fun.
Drew

Do you think Braun will be traded?
Jeffrey Todd
3:45
Seems to be dwindling in likelihood. No recent chatter on him and he's a complicated player to deal.

Norris and Cashner packaged together gets a return of......
Jeffrey Todd
3:47
Problem with the package ideas is that they are more complicated and buying teams don't want to give up blue chip prospects. So 1+1 doesn't = 2. Now maybe 2+2 = 3. But are we sure the same team wants both guys? Maybe Texas?

Whats an expected return from Washington or Cleveland for me?
Jeffrey Todd
3:48
An Eduardo Rodriguez type return is probably the realistic ceiling. So a top-50 type of prospect, maybe? Though ERod was arguably not quite that at the time he was dealt. That was after a true bidding war between BAL and DET.

Will Joe Smith be traded for anything other than cash?
Jeffrey Todd
3:49
Yeah some cost savings, mostly. He hasn't been very effective.
Chris Archer

So thereumor there's 70% chance I go to LAD. If this were to happen, what types of prospects do you see going from LA to TB?
Jeffrey Todd
3:49
See now, I don't even really like calling that a "rumor." Some unnamed exec saying that was his impression? I'm not going to draw a real percentage likelihood from that.
TheGreatPablo
3:51
what type of return are we looking for Lucroy at this point?
Jeffrey Todd
3:51
Same as it has been ever since he established that he's healthy and hitting. He is a huge trade piece, especially given how bad the catching position has been, and someone should pony up a top-flight prospect for him.
Booj
3:51
We hear all the time about prospects' values being elevated by being near-MLB ready. For a team like the Braves, Brewers, or Reds, does that maxim still hold? Should it?
Jeffrey Todd
3:52
It's not so much elevated as it is there's added certainty and thus more true value. You aren't relying as much on projection. There aren't as many years to wait during which things can go wrong. Plus, there's value to teams that know they'll be able to put guys right onto their MLB rosters.

3:53
Will the Reds trade Anthony DiSclafani and/or Zach Cozart?
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
Probably not, but they should be willing to listen on both. DeSclafani is a nice piece and there's no rush; just haven't heard much chatter on him. Cozart is a clear trade candidate, but I am not seeing the demand.

I know vogelbach was blocked by Rizzo in CHI but I thought he would have been used in a bigger trade in the coming days.. thoughts?
Jeffrey Todd
3:54
Well, fans might be overvaluing Vogelbach a bit. Cubs obviously didn't view him as a slightly less defensively capable Schwarber. Also, we might not be appreciating how much Cubs value Montgomery.
Max
3:54
Does Mike Montgomery mean the Cubs are out on Miller/Chapman or not necessarily.
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
No I don't see a strong connection.

The Braves seem interested in Lucroy. Writers seem interested in matching them up. Lucroy wants to play for a contender, and is only signed through 2017. Am I the only one who wonders why a rebuilding team like ATL would target him in a trade?
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
I don't see that happening at all. So I agree with you.

3:55
Hey, Jeffrey. Thanks for the chats!

Think there's any chance the Jays make some big moves for long-term pieces, sort of like the 2015 Rangers? They have a ton of free agents this offseason, could make sense to deal with present and future in one go.
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
Thanks for joining!
3:56
Unlike last year's Rangers, TOR is a clear contender. Also, Texas didn't have the number of major pieces hitting FA that the Jays do. So I don't really see parallels.
3:57
That being said, sure, they could look to try not just to add rental assets, but to build for the future. But the FO has talked about feeling the farm is a bit thin, and doesn't seem too inclined to cough up top assets to get controllable players.

Does Blackmon net a top 50 prospect in a trade?
Jeffrey Todd
3:58
I'll guess no. Glove isn't a plus, he isn't that young, and he's a good but not great hitter.
2 running away with the poll.

If the Cubs are in on Reddick does that mean a Soler deal is in the works?
Jeffrey Todd
3:59
Not necessarily. He could be optioned. Reddick is a rental.
Steven
3:59
The way Trea Turner is playing is he up for good?
Jeffrey Todd
3:59
More or less. He might end up dropping down for a bit if there's a roster crunch, but expanded rosters would open back up soon enough.
4:00
If nothing else, he's a heck of a nice late-season asset b/c of the glove and wheels. Seems pretty likely to end up on a postseason roster, too, even if he isn't a starter.
