For the record: yes, I love Cutch as much as everyone else and I don't see why he can't turn it around, but he only has one more year on his contract.

what do the yankees do with beltran
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
I don't know, but I feel like if you're going to trade Chapman you have to be willing to more or less get what you can for other pending free agents. If you really want to contend, you don't trade a guy like Chapman, who is extremely valuable down the stretch and in the post-season. So how do you not go on to move Beltran? That'd be my thought process, anyway.

Is Jeremy Hellickson a Phillie August 2nd?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Still guessing he's dealt.

Could the Marlins acquire Miguel Gonzalez and James Shields from the White Sox? They were scouting them at US Cellular
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Certainly would be achievable targets, but I wouldn't have terribly high hopes for either.
2:56
MIA has clear limits in what it can accomplish, so it'll need to look for smart adds and perhaps be willing to take on some future salary that it'd prefer not to.

Red Sox appearing everywhere in deals. Which deal seems most realistic? Dealing for a Catcher (lucroy), left fielder (bruce, CarGo, reddick) reliever or another topnof the rotation guy (Sale, Quintana, Gray, etc)?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
I feel like they won't part with Moncada or Benintendi, but that's just my guess. Beyond that, perhaps they will offer some of their best remaining pre-MLB assets for a few impactful players who they think it'd be worth sacrificing some of the farm to get. But I don't think they'll feel like they have to get something major done, and if they don't, somewhat modest bullpen or back-of-the-rotation arms could make sense still.

With the brewers shooting down offers for Lucroy including D'Arnaud...is a tigers deal centering on McCann that much better where they have a chance to land him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
Never know who a given team prefers, but generally, I wouldn't expect McCann to be any more enticing as a centerpiece.
They also don't need the return to feature a catcher.

Would the Rangers include Mazzara in a deal for a true #3 Pitcher?
Jeffrey Todd
3:00
I'll guess no, but they might have to make a tough choice between doing something like that and settling for a lesser arm.

It seems like things are quiet on the Rockies front. Do you think their plan is to wait for their pitching prospects to be ready next year and make a stab at next year's race?
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
It would fit their general MO and the team isn't playing poorly. Definitely could see them holding. Maybe ship off Jorge De La Rosa and Boone Logan and call it a deadline?

How good is your crystal ball? What player will be chosen first overall in next June's First year Player draft?
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
Not nearly that good.

Hey Mr. Todd thanks for always chatting with us. What is the Yanks most likely move and do you expect it to be active for them (either with buy or sell) next four days?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Thank you for chatting with me.
3:03
I still think the smart money is on trades involving Beltran and Nova. I don't doubt they'll explore deals like last year's Rangers strike for Cole Hamels, but that's all low-likelihood since none of the pitchers who'd fit that general profile are quite as obvious trade pieces (since they have much cheaper contracts).

What do you think the Jays could get from WAS IF Jose was willing to go to them?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
I have no idea. Really not sure what that kind of deal would look like. Would have to involve some kind of MLB starter going to Toronto, I guess?

Any real market for Joe Smith?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
Yes, in that teams are always looking to add pen pieces, but I don't think he's going to be valued as a premier set-up guy or anything. Someone will probably take over his salary or something, though.

Will the WSox just do a salary dump or do they want legit prospects for Robertson?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
They'll want something legit back. He has had some slip-ups, but still looks like a high-quality arm. Remember, although his deal is at market in terms of annual salary, there are only two years to go on it, so that increases his value.

What are my A's going to do? Weeks ago I thought with Hill, Reddick, Madson we'll cash in and get a few nice prospects. Now I have a feeling we won't trade anyone
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
Can't see how they don't deal Hill and Reddick.
Relievers TBD, but Madson isn't going to be a hotly-pursued guy since he isn't pitching all that well and is costly.
3:08
Still have others that could/probably should be moved -- Danny Valencia, Scrabble, maybe Coco.

DeSclafani and Bruce for Gallo and Tate who hangs up first?
Jeffrey Todd
3:09
Maybe if Tate were really on the rise in terms of value, but it's been the opposite. Don't think that's quite enough to get DeSclafani.
3:10
But not altogether implausible, I guess.

Heard Royals asked for Trea turner, Joe Ross and Lucas Giolito for Wade Davis thoughts?
Jeffrey Todd

I don't think they asked for that, but that would be an insane thing to request.
