First question is, why would the Yankees want Yelich?  Even if such a trade involved Hicks and Donaldson in some kind of bad-contract-swap extravaganza, New York is still taking on money for a player coming off a few shaky seasons in a row now.

When do you think Harper will be back?
Mark P
9:16
All-Star break is the target
9:17
Some natural uncertainty is baked in there because some players respond or rehab differently to TJ surgery than others, but for now, it looks like Harper should be back for the last 2.5 months of the season
9:18
It's interesting timing, since the Phillies will probably hold off on any kind of pre-deadline moves (either buying or selling) until they get Harper back, giving them a couple of weeks before the deadline to see where they're at

Could tigers get Elly De L Cruz for Jobe,Jung Colt Flores
Mark P
9:19
Nope.  Cincinnati isn't trading De La Cruz for anything, he's their star of the future

Do you think they will ever elect pitching coaches into the HOF?
Mark P
9:21
It would be cool if the veterans committee opened things up one year to non-playing personnel who weren't managers or executives/owners.

Have one year devoted to coaches, scouts, Frank Jobe, and any other important people in baseball history whose contributions flew somewhat under the radar

Cleveland has a glut of high level middle infield talent that will pose challenges to their 40-man roster. Should they trade some of them and what should they target in return?
Mark P
9:24
This idea has been floating around for a while now, and the Guardians might've caught a bit of reprieve since the Rule 5 draft didn't happen last offseason.  But, in this year's Rule 5, Cleveland lost two pitchers rather than infielders --- pitchers that the Guards might well have protected if they didn't need the roster space for the extra infielders.

Long story short, a trade is possible, though the Guards might also want to keep their depth in place if/when Amed Rosario isn't retained

Where is Cole Hamels going to end up signing and does he get a major league deal?
Mark P
9:25
It won't be a guaranteed deal, wherever Hamels winds up
9:26
Or, if perhaps he doesn't find an offer to his liking, he might just call it a career
