Ah there it is. I'll take Mookie.
Mr Burns
2:23
Darryl Strawberry, of course!
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
Whatever you prefer, sir.
Joe

Do you see any value in any of the twins corner power bats the twins have log jammed in AAA and the mlb palka, walker, vargas, park, and plouffe
Jeffrey Todd
2:24
Well, sure. All are obviously different assets. Really, though, these kinds of players aren't that rare. Unless/until they show the ability to convert the power to the MLB level while also reaching base at a passable clip, they won't have a ton of value. (Plouffe's value is fairly fixed, of course ... basically David Freese-ish.)
Shaun
2:25
Do you see Braves as a contender next year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
I won't say yes or no, since we don't even know what the roster will look like, but start writing a list of what needs to go right for that to happen and let me know when you are done!

First off, love these chats! You guys are both smart and hilarious, keep up the good work. Secondly, speeding up the game thoughts (after reading Manfred's article): how about eliminating visits to the mound all together by the manager, pitching coach or catcher, unless you're taking the pitcher out?... (My next step would be that you would be that the pitcher who starts the inning finishes the inning unless he's injured, but first thing is first)
Jeffrey Todd
2:26
New rule: if you butter me up like this, your question gets answered. Ha. Thanks.
2:27
I mean, I think mound visits serve a legitimate purpose. I'd guess there are other ways to trim much more time that wouldn't impact the actual game.
No mid-inning pitching changes, though, whoa -- I think that's too far.
Mr. Puig
2:28
Mordecai Three Finger Brown!
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
Smoky Joe Wood and we're ready to roll.

What are your thoughts on the stadium's naming rights? I know it gets teams extra money, but there's something to be said for tradition. As a kid, names like Jacobs Field, Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, Comiskey Park, Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, Joe Robbie Stadium, and Jack Murphy Stadium were common. Today, names like Progressive Field, U.S. Cellular Field, Target Field, and Citi Field have become the norm.
Jeffrey Todd
2:29
Well, many of those parks were named after less-than-inspiring people, to be fair. But of course it's more fun to refer to "Shibe Park" than "AT&T Park".
I'm not terribly offended, though -- at least the corporations are paying for that instead of the taxpayers.
Jeff
2:29
Someone has to be interested in Kurt Suzuki right?
Jeffrey Todd
2:30
Yeah, classic late-season rent-a-catcher (having already been traded twice in just that role).
nate
2:30
Is Buxton a Bust like Hicks was a few years ago.
Jeffrey Todd
2:30
Don't know yet, but if so, he'd be a much bigger bust. Of course, we don't even yet know if Hicks is a bust, so ... still willing to wait and see.
Dakota
2:31
What do you expect the AAV for Justin Turner's new contract will be?
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
Off the top of my head - seriously haven't pondered this at all - I'd say somewhere in the Murphy-Zobrist range.
2:32
So 12 to 14 annually over three or four years. Still a lot of room for information to change things and then the market will take on a life of its own.
Sandy Leon
2:32
Why is no one talking about me? Comeback Player of the Year maybe?
Jeffrey Todd
2:32
Every time you get an infield single every Sox beat writer sends out 3 tweets about your Ruthian feats. I'd say you're getting plenty of love (and deservedly so).
2:33
Not sure comeback really describes it, though.
Luke
2:34
If Braun clears waivers, Miami make a play for him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:34
Well that would be fun. Not sure I see how that could work out for both sides, though.
Jeff
2:34
You are one handsome fella. Dansby Swanson hits a bomb tonight? haha
Jeffrey Todd
2:34
I am flattered! Whatever prompted that compliment?!
(No on the prediction.)
Tank
2:35
Is Rick Hahn on the hot seat? If not he should be. Thanks
Jeffrey Todd
2:35
From an outside perspective, yeah, has to be I think.
Rudiger
2:35
Hi Jeff! Did Jose Bautista just potentially lose tens of millions by not selling high this last offseason and asking the jays for an extension with some kind of opt-out? He clearly bet on himself and thanks to injuries mostly has underperformed
Jeffrey Todd
2:36
Not sure about that. He'll still be paid handsomely and they probably weren't lining up a truly monstrous offer.
He'll be a fascinating guy to watch this winter.

what did yu major in college? I am 17 and have sparked major interest in a career like you and Steve Adams and I really want to get into this kind of stuff. thanks!
Jeffrey Todd
2:37
History and foreign affairs. And I'm a lawyer. Steve majored in English. So ... yeah this isn't really a line of work you would directly be educated for in college. Like anything else, though, reading/writing/critical thinking would seem to be valuable.
Also, not learning a marketable trade so that you feel motivated to go looking to find yourself and end up doing something weird and cool.
J
2:38
Can't see how the Jays are done with trades. Think there might be one more big splash out there for offence? Who?
