No, based on history alone

Would it be amazing and would I love to see it happen?  Absolutely.  But even if Arraez doesn't approach .400, we should all enjoy this awesome season of his

What question that you receive annoys you the MOST!!!
Mark P
8:26
It's stuff that isn't published in the chat, naturally.  But my pet peeve is when someone submits a really interesting and well-thought out question or observation.....but their screen name is something obscene or offensive, so I can't publish it in the chat

With Happ and Suzuki under contract the next 3 years and Cubs top prospect CF Crow-Armstrong expected to be in the pros next year does that mean Bellinger won’t a long term spot for the Cubs?
Mark P
8:28
The Cubs probably didn't expect Bellinger to be anything more than a one-year stay, since if he does have a rebound year, he'll head back into free agency and look for a richer multi-year deal.  In that scenario, the Cubs might be happy just taking back the draft pick compensation and letting Bellinger go on his way
What might be interesting is if Bellinger has only an okay year, or keeps doing what he's doing now.  Maybe another one-year deal in Chicago, if he likes the team and the environment?

Kelenic finally becoming the guy everyone expected? He's been unstoppable offensively and he's making incredible defensive plays like today's game-saving catch.
Mark P
8:30
It's been a great start for Kelenic, and maybe the latest example of why we shouldn't rush to judgement on top prospects after they don't immediately catch fire in the big leagues

Guardians look for help outside organization or stick with rookies  in the minors?
Mark P
8:32
It's not in the Guards' nature to, say, package three prospects together for a big star at the deadline or something.  But Cleveland is definitely in a bit more win-now mode, what with the J-Ram and Gimenez extensions, and the possibility that this is Francona's last season. I can see the front office being a bit more aggressive than usual in deadline moves --- nothing overboard, but just "a bit" more aggressive

Is MLB hurting itself by waiting for a resolution of the Rays/As situations before expanding? It seems that new markets would generate new fans/revenue, and get some publicity for the sport
Mark P
8:35
There won't be expansion until the next CBA at the earliest, which seems like an acceptable compromise until the A's/Rays situations are finally sorted out.  If you're a new city that wants a baseball team, maybe you also prefer to see if you can lure the A's or Rays rather than start from scratch with an expansion franchise

Your prediction: In 2025, the A’s will be in ———————.
Mark P
8:37
Las Vegas

Though it's no small detail that since the A's lease at the Coliseum is up after the 2024 season, a new city isn't going to have a new ballpark ready in such a short timespan.  So if the A's did move, Vegas might have them playing out of the minor league park for a year (or two?)

I know the idea is to generate more stolen bases, but do you think it's possible we made it too easy? Last I checked the CS rate was at 18ish percent?
Mark P
8:39
Catchers and pitchers may need some time to adjust to this increase in the run game, but that number should start to (somewhat) normalize as the season goes on.
Or, it might take a season or two for teams to fully adjust
Mark
8:40
Is it just me or should Tatis not be allowed to play while on his suspension?
Mark P
8:41
The suspension only covers MLB games.  If you make it a blanket suspension, then it's really a longer suspension since obviously Tatis wouldn't just return to the Padres without any ramp-up time

Stanley cup prediction?

Boston over Colorado

By coincidence, my NBA Finals pick is also Boston over Denver.

My World Series pick, to be clear, is not Red Sox over Rockeis

Is Votto finished? He stopped his rehab.
Mark P
8:43
As per the rules, minor league rehab stints can only be 20 days long.  Votto had hit that number and wasn't yet ready to return, so he has to sit out a few days before starting a new 20-day rehab period
Red Sox over Rockies
8:43
That would be fun though!
Mark P
8:44
Just writing that matchup made me think of the 2007 World Series for approximately the first time since....five minutes after the end of the 2007 Series
Mets Bets
8:44
Will Baty be starting regularly? Struggled last year when called up, think there will be an adjustment period this time around, or does he come out blazing?
Mark P
8:45
You'd think the Mets wouldn't call Baty up if they weren't prepared to give him a steady dose of playing time, which means that Escobar might be hitting the bench

If a player is a known slow starter then would it help to not play them or would the slow.tart just carry over
Mark P
8:48
Most traditional "slow starters" need some at-bats to get their timing down, so just sitting them in April wouldn't do it
John
8:49
How would the white Sox clean house? Any of their controllable guys get shopped?
Mark P
8:52
Probably not, because the White Sox have quite a few players under short-term control (either free agents after 2023 or only under club option for 2024) that they would be a very popular deadline seller if they did pivot into a semi-house cleaning.  Lynn, Giolito, Lopez, Hendriks, maybe Tim Anderson, Clevinger, Grandal....
Jack
8:53
When does Curtis Meade get the call?
Mark P
8:54
He's off to a pretty slow start at Triple-A, and it's not like the Rays have a real need for him at the moment.  If Mead starts to pick it up at the plate, he'll be up in the majors at some point this year, but the Rays won't bring him up until he's ready

Twins are ruining Buxton by keeping him at DH- he needs to play in the field.
Mark P
8:55
The Twins are understandably being cautious with Buxton, and moving him back into the outfield before he's completely healthy sounds like a recipe for disaster

Erik Neander, assuming he's allowed to bring the rest of the Rays front office with him in this scenario
