Why do people think it's important for prospects to get playing time in AAA? It's basically a league of guys who aren't good enough to be in the majors. Actual prospects are playing more in the minors and the top guys always go from AA to the pros? Just a waste of time IMO.

All of the minors are "guys who aren't good enough to be in the majors."  And the competition level does increase at Triple-A, because the kids are now getting some exposure to some pitchers and hitters with at least a little MLB experience.

He's really been hitting well in his last week or so, but again, it's a small sample size at Triple-A.  De La Cruz certainly looks like he'll be a big leaguer at some point, but the Reds aren't going to rush his progression since he's such a huge part of their future

He's had an awesome year, and while the Giants have a few guys playing quite well, Estrada seems like the clearest bet as an ASG rep

Again, the AL East is so tough that it'll be tricky to navigate past at least two of the other teams.  But that said....the Yankees are still over .500.  They're just one good week away from being right back in the thick of things.

I'd be surprised if the D'Backs hadn't had some talks with Gallen's camp already, and though a deal hasn't yet been reached, that doesn't mean an extension won't happen before Gallen hits free agency.

The Marte and Carroll extensions indicate that the D'Backs are open to spending on core pieces.  After this season, some money will be freed up with Ahmed, Melancon, Longoria, etc. off the books

That is to say, with some money off the books, the D'Backs can free up more cash to devote towards Gallen, though the team doesn't really have anything long-term anyway besides Carroll and Marte.

This is the other factor, especially if Detroit has a better season than expected and they feel they've put the 2022 disaster behind them.  Obviously E-Rod would have to also feel comfortable about staying put, but adding some extra years and money to the contract would help sway his mind

Cardinals have to make a trade at some point, right? Contreras only adds to their ridiculous amount of outfielders/ DHs.

Agreed.  They probably needed to trade someone even before Contreras was added to the DH mix, assuming the Cards actually keep him at DH for an extended amount of time and don't return him to catcher relatively soon

With the pitch clocks now, when the benches clear inthe middle of an at bat, who gets penalized? The batter or the pitcher?

That's a good question, I haven't seen a game yet with a big brawl this season.  My assumption is that both teams would be equally at fault, so there's no pitch clock violation called?

If you were the Pirates FO would you take Crews or Skenes at #1? It would be cool to see the Nats get Strasburg 2.0 if Pirates go with the bat.

I'm hardly a college scouting expert, but it seems like both prospects would be great picks.

But, let's also not forget that the Pirates could pick someone else for the sake of saving bonus pool money, to then spend bigger on other prospects later on.  The Bucs have used this tactic in the past, yet that said, they must be hoping that this will be the last time for a long time that they'll have such a high pick.  In that case, they might just take a true blue-chipper who stands out above the crowd (like how the O's didn't worry about bonus pool savings when taking Rutschman)
