What would you do with Alex Reyes this year if you were the Cardinals?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
I think they are doing the right thing since he's proved adaptable: use him wherever the need arises. I'm not sure they should rush into a starting job -- you can always start Garcia and have Reyes ready to step in for a long relief stint. Added benefit that the lineup will be stacked for a lefty.

Would britton fetch more then the chapman deal of left to that
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
Hmmmmm
2:55
Contracts aside, I think he's more valuable right now. The groundball rate is so unbelievably high that his great but not amazing K rate doesn't matter.
With contracts, he was head and shoulders more valuable than Aroldis.
(At the trade deadline, that is.)

What were the Braves thinking not trading Jim Johnson for SOMETHING?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
Do we know anything about what was offered? What if they couldn't get a single team to offer anything they considered more than organizational filler? Could certainly have made sense, IMO.
Brett Lawrie
2:58
Do I get non-tendered?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Nah, he isn't going to be very expensive and hasn't been that bad.

Which reliever would you want most on your team, contracts aside?
Jeffrey Todd

Britton/Miller/Betances/Jansen/Chapman is mostly a toss-up, I think.
But I'll lean Britton just b/c he's so unique.
Derek Norris

Do I get non-tendered?
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
I don't think so. He won't earn more than guys like Avila/Navarro/Iannetta signed for last year. And there's club control beyond that. So he would still be a reasonable trade candidate.

When will maitain play
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Like 2021?

Should the braves go after Rich Hill
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
No.

Could Redick be a good fit for the Reds with a pillow contract if they don't think Schebler or Winker are ready for the everyday job? And would be a solid trade candidate if he bounces back quickly.
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
I don't see him getting a pillow contract, if you mean just like a one-year, $8MM sort of thing. He has a long enough track record and enough respect around the league to get a multi-year deal. Plus there's still two weeks and the postseason to show he just had a slump.
Shortstop
3:04
Trea Turner or Dansby Swanson?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
I'll take Turner, b/c he has a higher ceiling and has shown evidence he can reach it.

Changes that Yo, Duda and Bruce are in the same lineup next year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
I don't see it happening, but not impossible. Maybe 5-10%?
Ryan

Will Jake Arrieta take an extension?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
Probably not.

Is Addison Russell elite yet?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
High bar at that position.
(That's a no for me.)
3:07
Okay folks, I'm going to have to call it quits here.
Need to get to writing for the website.
Thanks as always for the great questions -- talk next week!
