Your thoughts on Anthony Volpe thus far this season?

He looks increasingly overmatched against MLB pitching.  This isn't cause for great concern, frankly, since he's a 22-year-old in his rookie season --- even top prospects usually struggling in their first taste of the majors.
A stint back in Triple-A is probably the best thing for him at this point

If he keeps this up for a few more weeks, it'll be difficult to ignore.

However, AL shortstop already has Wander, Bichette, and probably Bobby Witt (as the Royals' lone rep).  Sticking with the team rep concept, Texas will already have enough other players at the ASG that Seager might be left off due to the relative lack of playing time

Nothing for a couple of weeks, since he's still in extended Spring Training and has yet to take part in any game action

It’s getting frustrating watching the Mariners.  Do the need a change of leadership?  How about a new hitting coach?  Current lineup doesn’t inspire much confidence.

This is a simplistic answer, but it could be that the breaks the M's enjoyed in 2021-22 (as symbolized by all of the one-run victories) just aren't there this year.....they're 7-13 in one-run games in 2023.  

Moreso than just luck, the rotation has had injuries, some players who were hitting last year aren't hitting now.  The regression monster is hitting Seattle hard, and it could be that the team wasn't quite as close to being a true contender as everyone thought.

Just wanted to say as a Cards fan I always respect McCutcheon.  Class act and in his prime major PITA against the Cards.

As per the comment about McCutchen and the HOF earlier.....if Cutch doesn't make it to Cooperstown, he can at least have the "most respected player" trophy.  He seems to be just about the universally liked player in the sport.
