Maybe I'm reading a bit too much into things, but it struck me interesting that Peter Seidler didn't give a full-on vote of confidence in Bob Melvin, in Seidler's recent interview with Kevin Acee.

Could I fetch Logan Gilbert in a straight up swap?
Mark P

This is the kind of offer that would get Seattle's attention.  India has been slumping a bit lately, and it's possible both teams would prefer to hedge some bets by making it a multi-player deal, but this would be a fun old-school "baseball trade" to address needs on both ends

I think we will see more true "baseball trades" this deadline. As opposed to salary dumps. What do you think?

Hey, case in point!

Just my opinion, but shouldn’t the Astros, who have no top 100 prospects and too many issues to be a contender, sell off some parts and rebuild?
Mark P

I lean much more towards "too much talent to be a seller" than "too many issues to be a contender."  There's definitely been a bit of a World Series hangover vibe for the Astros, but the optimistic view of things is that even with all the injuries and problems like Abreu's struggles, they're still in the wild card hunt and not that far back of Texas

Lot of execs taking back the overpaid comments!

No kidding.  Yoshida might now seem like one of the steals of the offseason.

Should the Sox be looking to trade verdugo?  He seems like the odd man out - already 2 LHH outfielders who seem like longer term answers. A year and a half of control, good but not great game. What could the return look like there?
Mark P
10:22
Verdugo isn't likely to be dealt whatsoever, even if the Red Sox did cool off.  Boston is more apt to move pending free agents in the event of a selloff, and frankly they might still do this even if they're still in the wild card race.
10:23
The Sox have had a weird knack for being nothing but red hot or ice cold all season, so maybe I'm being presumptuous in assuming that they don't have a six-game losing streak or something coming up.  But it seems like they're really starting to lock in right now, which is bad news for other AL teams

Do you think the White Sox can get an organization top 10 prospect and a lower 20-30 organization prospect for Lance Lynn ?
Mark P
10:26
That's a reach, since Lynn is basically a rental player and he's allowed a ton of homers this year

Are the Guardians sellers or buyers at the deadline?  And if so who is the most likely piece to be traded away or for?
Mark P
10:28
I always seem to be higher on Cleveland than most, so I think they'll stay close enough to be buyers.  But more likely, the Guards could opt for a mix of buying and selling, even though Bieber might no longer be a trade chip
