Bill Shea said that he's heard of a Verlander trade to the Dodgers. Any truth to that? Would Urias be part of a return?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Doesn't seem particularly likely, but who knows?
Urias, though? Absolutely no chance.

does anything big ever happen at the GM meetings

VMart signed there 2 years ago.

Thoughts on trading Odor in favor of giving Profar a bulk of the playing time at 2B? Odor's skillset (low BB%, high K%, high power ceiling) usually doesn't age well, or is incredibly volatile, at the least. Profar doesn't seem to have quite as high a ceiling, but his floor seems higher, IMO.
Jeffrey Todd
2:56
Odor is 22, so I don't know that aging is an issue. Important to remember he's been producing while developing these last few years.
2:57
Profar was pretty bad last year. No reason at all to commit that heavily to him.

Do you guys plan to do more about the Cubs WS victory? I was expecting more recognition and maybe/probably an article about it considering the circumstances. It definitely was not just a typical WS victory for Team X.
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
Well, I'd say the broader media accomplished that. Not really our core thing to cover what happens on the field.

EE at 5 years and $125MM is a joke, right? Someone please say just kidding.
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
His agent floated it as what they'd ideally like. Seems like a reasonable starting ask from his side. I'm sure if you had an honest conversation with Kinzer, he wouldn't call it an expectation.
2:59
Esp. after he spoke today about how much EE will value things other than contract. Doesn't seem he's just going to try to max out.

Why does Travis Wood not make sense for the Bucs? MLBTR has a 3/21 prediction. Too many years?
Jeffrey Todd

Doesn't seem unreasonable as a possibility, esp if they could get him for 2 years. But just b/c we didn't make that pick doesn't mean we don't think it's realistic.
FWIW, choosing the top 50 takes us a long, long time. Lots of effort. But obviously it's all guesswork and you're pretty lucky to get more than a handful of teams right.

Any idea who the Reds might target to build out their bullpen and add to the Iglesias/Lorenzen combo? Ziegler perhaps or someone on that level? Any Starting pitchers you think we will take a chance on?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Y'know, I still have a hard time guessing on the new FO. I don't think they'll put a lot of cash down, and with a lot of relievers out there -- esp some veteran former closer types -- there's no reason to run out and pluck a guy off the market. Can easily wait and snag a Santiago Casilla or Joaquin Benoit or whoever falls through the cracks for a modest commitment. Maybe give them some incentives based on games finished.

Does Vogelbach get the starting nod at first for the Mariners or do they sign Napoli??
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
They'll add a righty bat to go with him. Time share of some kind.
Michael

Could the Marlins make Yelich available for the Cardinals in a trade?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Doubt that. They'd want a top-tier, controllable starter.

How much could the Dbacks get from trading me
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Lots. Don't see it.
Disappointing season. New front office. And you trade the team's star? Who makes eminent sense to keep from a baseball perspective as an affordable, top-end player?

The Top 50 List is something i look forward to every year. you all do a great job.

Do you see Weiters re-signing with Baltimore. How about 3/36?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
I think he'll get something like that, or a bit more, but elsewhere.

Thoughts on most likely candidates to fill holes for the Jays if JB&EE do not get signed?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
Honestly there are too many to get too specific. Lots of ways they could go. Could add a Kendrys-like DH and more well-rounded corner OF types (Reddick? Fowler?).
Michael

Think Dickey's signing will kick-start some action in the off-season?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
Not really.

What are the odds astros land miggy?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
Will you still luv me if I say < 0.5%? I just can't fathom it, personally.
This winter, at least. I mean, he's still really good, but are Stros taking all that salary? Or are Tigers eating a big piece of it for their HOF guy?
Mike

I will pay you $5 if you answer my questions.
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
I'll return your $5 and give you another $5 if you stop repeating the same one over and over.
3:09
I can't answer everything, and some are better than others. It's cool to ask repeats every so often, b/c I might miss one, but peppering me isn't the best.
I should really do these "how to chat w/us" comments at the beginning rather than the end of the chat.
